James made a Valentine's box for his class. He had an idea to do a game so he got the shoe box and cut holes in it. I helped him cover it with tinfoil and make a sign.

Sledding
It was so perfect having fresh snow on a day off of school. We went sledding to a park in American Fork that has the perfect hill that isn't too steep or too long. It was pretty windy and cold. The minis didn't really like it but James, Lynnlee and Kaden had a fun time.
We tried making a snow fort when we got home but it was so windy and cold. All of the kids went in except for Taggart.

Moon Palace
Marshall had a work trip to Cancun and I got to go with. We stayed at the Moon Palace which is an all inclusive resort. It was the best!
We left on a Tuesday night and took a red eye.
The hotel was beautiful and smelled so good. They had the same fragrance throughout the whole resort and I loved the smell. This is a picture of the stained glass ceiling in the lobby.
We got to the hotel around 8:00 am and were so tired. Luckily we were able to check into our room when we got to the hotel. I fell asleep so fast. Marshall is awesome and found a fun zipline tour and got it all booked and planned out.
The zipline tour had really fun architecture and design with each area. This was the check in area. The restaurant area reminded me of Swiss Family Robinson. I wish I had taken pictures but we put our phones in the locker and didn't get them out until we left.
We went on twelve zip lines total through the jungle and over. I am so afraid of heights but agreed to do this because I felt like it wouldn't be too scary. I was shaking and so nervous from the moment we put on our harnesses until I had done the second zip line. It got easier and more fun after that. We wore big leather gloves for our brake. On the last zip line we took of our gloves and finished in water. Then we got to do a zip coaster. It was like a mini roller coaster track through the jungle and we were harnessed in and clipped to it.
This is what it looked like. We had tons of pictures taken of us on the zip line and roller coaster. It was one of those deals where you buy them all for $80 or you get nothing. Pretty lame. So you get photos from the internet instead.
We went swimming at the cenote after. We learned that a cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. The water wasn't as warm as I thought it would be but it was refreshing. Marshall explored and climbed up the walls and jumped in. I went off the rope swing a few times. One of the guys in our group almost drowned because he went off the rope swing and then just panicked. His wife said he didn't know how to swim so I'm not really sure why he jumped in the first place. They threw him a life ring and pulled him to safety right before he went under. It was so crazy to watch and not be able to do anything to help.
The conference officially started Wednesday night with dinner.
Thursday Marshall had meetings and I slept in. I started my seasonal job so I stayed up late working Wednesday night.
We played tennis with a few others from the group on Thursday afternoon. We got smoked but it was still fun. We forgot to put sunscreen and so we had some fun tan lines the rest of the trip.
After tennis we cooled off at the pool. Marshall did the Flow-rider. We ate at a Brazilian restaurant that night and it was so good and authentic.
After dinner we watched a circus type show at the resort. Since it was an all inclusive resort you could pretty much have whatever you wanted to eat or drink anytime. We had tried virgin pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris. When we got to the show a waitress asked if we wanted a drink. Marshall asked her what else they had that was non-alcoholic. She said, "Beer." Ha ha! So needless to say he ended up ordering a strawberry daiquiris.
Friday was similar with meetings in the morning and then free time in the afternoon. We went swimming in the ocean after and swam in the pools. We rented some bikes and rode all around the resort. On the north end of the resort we found a little trail through the trees. It led to this mini ruin.
Next to the ruin was a bicycle grave yard. 😵
The water was pretty warm and so we swam out to the sandbar.
After we found our selves in the pool with the basketball and volleyball. We ended up playing a game of volleyball with some kids and felt right at home.
We enjoyed all the gelato and loved the cup.
That night we had a group picture and then dinner to close the conference.
Marshall was asked to be on the advisory council which gave us an extra two days! Saturday morning Marshall went to meetings and then we went on a snorkel cruise with the advisory council. It was awesome. I love water and swimming. It was so fun snorkeling and seeing sea turtles, fish, corral, sting rays and star fish.
Sunday our flight didn't leave until 5:00. We would have liked to go to church but it wasn't easy and safe to catch a taxi there and back. We decided just to lay low at the hotel and read some conference talks. We walked around, sat by the pool and took pictures.
Marshall almost got hit on the head by a falling coconut on the first night so we took this picture to show it.
It was such a great week! I definitely hope to go back to Moon Palace!
