Spring Soccer

That’s a wrap for 2022 spring soccer season. We had some days when everyone won their games and days when everyone lost. They learned from their mistakes, kept trying their best and moving forward.

James loved his team this year. Great group and great coach. I wish it could just stay the same but every year there are new changes. This year the big change is La Roca and Arsenal merging. So we’ll see how tryouts go.

Lynnlee’s team came from 2nd to last during the season and finished 2nd in the tournament. They improved a lot!

Kade’s team had some rocky games but they never gave up. They had a “ friendly tournament” at the end and won those games.
Kade loves soccer and so we thought a lot about him trying out for La Roca. He wanted to and so he went for it. He made a team and is so excited!

Tag has played for the same coach for a few years. He has learned a lot but it’s tough playing for a few years and still having brand new players on the team. It’s hard to come together as a team. He is going to start playing AA with a different team and coach. Hopefully it will help his skills develop more.

Sienna told me she just plays soccer for the treats. She scored a few goals though so I think she likes it more than she lets on.

Chewbacca

I haven’t posted about Chewie in awhile. He is still transitioning to our new house. He goes in the crate during the day when everyone is gone because we don’t trust him on his own yet. He sleeps in James’s bed at night. If James is gone then it’s bad because we can’t get Chewie to sleep anywhere else. One night he ended up in the crate in the basement because he wouldn’t sleep in anyone else’s bed, he whined in the crate upstairs so we had to put him where no one could hear him.

When it rains or snows it’s a challenge not having grass. Chewie gets muddy paws and we have to coral him before he gets in the house and clean/bathe him.

He has a lot of new puppy energy still. He is always happy when people come over. He seems to be more chill during the day though. I had no problems working 6 hours everyday with Chewie sleeping by my side. Last year he would bark at me after 4 hours. By evening time he is ready to get energy out. He doesn’t like when we all sit down to watch a movie.

His hair got really long and he could barely see through his fur. After a trip to the groomer he looks like a completely different dog.

Ladies Lunch

We went out for lunch to celebrate my mom. Mother's Day weekend had a lot going on so it was fun to celebrate later. We met up at Midway Mercantile for lunch and then got dessert from Twisted Sugar. I love spending time with my mom and sisters. It is priceless!

It was windy but still very warm so I was excited to wear shorts and sandals. Later that night I rushed off to James's game and totally forgot to change into warmer clothes. By the time the game started it was very cold and very windy. Brrr! Thankfully I had a lot of blankets in the car to wrap around me.

Training

James and I completed our longest and hardest run…21 miles!!! We ran on Monday morning so it wouldn’t conflict with soccer. James missed school because we wanted to go early and he didn’t have a lot going on in his classes.
We had plans to go our normal route on the Murdock Trail but James wasn’t feeling very good the first few miles. We ended up running around Lehi instead so we would be closer to home in case he needed to stop early.

Training with James has been really great! He’s pushed me out of my running comfort zone. Normally I like to run early and on low traffic roads. I like running in the cool morning, when I’m not seen by many, and get long runs done on Saturdays. With James we’ve run at all times of day, in traffic, in heat and seen by many. I will happily get back to my routine when we are done but it’s good to be pushed every once in awhile.

RSL

Each of our kids were given a ticket to an RSL game. We reserved tickets for Saturday nights game. We even had tickets for some of James‘s friends. We were planning on taking everyone. Then last minute James and two of his friends decided they wanted to go to the multi-stake dance instead. It was so surprising because James loves soccer! He hasn’t wanted to go to a dance before. The rest of us still went. It was so much fun and RSL won the game!

Lionesses

Lynnlee had a great year of AA soccer. Her team went from being second to last in the fall, to taking 2nd place in the final tournament. They improved so much!

Lehi Legacy Center 5k

Lehi Legacy center has a yearly member appreciation week. This is the first year that we decided to run the 5k. We decided it wasn’t about speed and more about finishing. Marshall was running buddies with Taggart, James stayed with Kade and I stayed with Sienna. Sienna ran a block then walked a block through the race.
Sadly, Lynnlee woke up not feeling well so she wasn’t able to participate.
There were games and snacks after the race. It was a really fun morning! I’m so impressed Kade, Taggart and Sienna were able to complete the race!

Friendship

One time as a teenager, I decided to make Valentines for my gal pals, back then they were called girlfriends. Anyways, I put together little Valentines for each of them. The plan was to surprise each of them, put it on their porch, ring the doorbell and drive away. My mom drove me around to deliver them. As I got to the first friend’s house I realized they were all hanging out together without me. I put them all on their porch, rang the door and drove home. Such a disappointing night to be left out once again. I’m hoping my children can develop good friendships and always include everyone.

Lynnlee has a great group of gal pals. We invited them ALL over tonight. We’ve been having them over about once a month since we moved in. I feel like I’m living vicariously through them. I hope Lynnlee will always have good friends!❤️

Panthers

Kade completed his first year of AA. There was good competition that pushed them. They finished on a high note winning both of their Jamboree games.

Tulip Festival

We took Grandma and Grandpa Lowry to the Tulip Festival.

Sadly a lot of the tulips were gone. We made the most of it and enjoyed the flowers that were still there.

We fed the fish. It was a cloudy and windy day but kind of nice not to feel hot and sweaty walking around.

Unpacking

Ever since February all unpacking has stopped. All of my time went to Cotiviti. Now that it’s winding down I had time to get lockers for the garage and unpack the boxes. We got all for the clear bins out and filled them up with cleats of every size. Nice to be organized for soccer season!

I didn’t like how I decorated so Marshall help me redecorate in time to host book club. Literally blast minute. I was hosting Tuesday night and Marshall got the stuff right before. Lynnlee helped get it on the shelves while I drove kids to soccer.

Book club was a success and I love how the room looks.

Yep

James and I ran to the new Saratoga Springs temple a few weeks ago. There were storm clouds all around and strong winds. The contrast between the temple and the storm clouds was very apparent. It reminded me of a talk by President Nelson when he talked about temples being the safest place to be. I like how Marshall captioned it.

President Nelson said, “ The temple—the house of the Lord—is a place of security unlike any other. There, you sisters are endowed with priesthood power through the sacred priesthood covenants you make.” -October 2020

It makes me so happy that temples are almost back to normal! I’m also so excited for the Saratoga Springs temple to open this fall!

Feelin The Love

I felt so much love this weekend. Nurses Week started on Friday and I felt appreciated from Quest and Cotiviti.

My sisters (we missed Katie!!) took me out to lunch that afternoon. We went to Cravings Bistro. Mmm!

Friday afternoon and Saturday morning James and I ran together. We started a new book so both runs went by quickly. I love our routes and I feel safer running trails with a buddy. We both got Goodr running sunglasses and they have been awesome!

Friday and Saturday I enjoyed soccer games. It was so windy Saturday so I watched from the car. Taggart scored and also got a big goose egg from bonking heads with another player.

Saturday night we went to the movies for my birthday. James and Marshall saw Dr. Strange and the rest of us saw Bad Guys. I really liked what I saw of the movie. I was so so tired that I fell asleep through the middle of it. Unfortunately falling asleep at the movies has become more normal for me. I usually take a quick nap before Living Cinema nights so I can stay awake. Otherwise, put me in a dark room where no one needs me and my eyes can’t stay open. Lynnlee sat next to me and couldn’t believe I was sleeping.
We were even on the 4th row. Ha ha!
also got sunburned watching soccer.

Sunday I got to sleep in. Marshall and the kids made Swedish pancakes.

We had May birthdays and a Mother’s Day dinner with my family. I’m so grateful for my mother and all she does for me. She is a wonderful example and service and kindness. She works hard and enjoys time with our family. She’s a listening ear and problem solver. Love you mom!❤️

Sunday night we played Mexican Train dominoes. Probably need  to come up with a new name for that game. It was a fun night and I didn’t want bedtime to come.
