Memorial Day

I haven't spent a lot of memorial days visiting a cemetery but I feel like it is important. I know I remember my relatives who have passed on and I know they aren't there at the cemetery. I feel like it's the action that shows that we are remembering them on a weekend set apart for remembering them.

Sunday afternoon we met Betsy and my parents at the Salt Lake cemetery to visit the graves of aunt Pat, and G&G Jarvis. It was a nice day. We enjoyed sharing memories. My mom brought some chocolate popcorn to snack on. It was really nice.

Monday we went to Manila Pond to do some kayaking and paddle boarding. Chewie even got to go with us. He didn't seem to mind sitting on my lap in the kayak as I paddled around the pond. Betsy joined us. We had a fun time. We had picnic lunches. The kids had fun playing in the sand.
Kade's friend Dash came too and they spend the time fishing. They each caught a fish. Kade through this one back after the picture was taken.
Our friends the Leland's came too and brought this awesome inflatable unicorn. It was huge!
That night we grabbed Chick-Fil-A for dinner and then watched the new Little Mermaid. It was good. No hidden messages, beautiful singing, effects and overall good acting. We all enjoyed spending time together.

Soccer Season Wrap Up

Everyone wrapped up their spring soccer season through out the month of May. James started off only getting the minimum time of five minutes per game. Then by the end he was playing most of the game. It was really exciting and fun to watch him improve.

Kade enjoyed his coaches and teammates. Also he improved his goalie skills a lot.
Lynnlee played with the same group of girls for two years. They improved a lot. They went from not ever winning to winning a few games.
Taggart's team was tested a lot this season. They played against more challenging teams so it pushed them.
Kade's coach formed a team with some players from his team and another team to play at State Cup. They won their first game by a lot. The second game they lost and then the last game they lost by a lot. I'm getting to the point where I can see the value in playing harder teams, even if it means losing. As a player you learn a lot by being challenged versus beating other teams by a lot.
Sienna has found a great group of girls to play with. They won all of their games except for two. Their coach is positive and fun. They team did well and had fun. It was a good vibe.
The coach dressed up in the team colors for the last few games.

First Day and Last Day Pictures

Marshall was so great to take the first day and last day pictures this year. He also put them together for the blog post. I love comparing and seeing how much each of my kids has changed.

Last Day of School and Dance Festival

Going to Waffle Love is our last day of school tradition. It is so much fun that everyone wants to bring their friends. This year I went twice. The first trip was with Taggart, Sienna, and James's friends. The next trip was with Lynnlee and her friends.

Lynnlee and her friends wanted to go to school. They got to watch the new Mario movie. Then they walked to Eden's house.
It was a party bus taking them all to Waffle Love as they sang to High School Musical.

They spent the rest of the day playing with water, watching movies, and swimming.

Kade didn't go with us to Waffle Love because he had a better offer. His friend Aiden invited him to a end of school party. His neighborhood knows how to celebrate. I saw it last year and it looks so fun! There are snow cones and cotton candy. Plus endless playing in everyone's back yards. He even got his face painted.

This was taken after the dance festival but it didn't have a post to go in. I only have videos from the dance festival. Betsy and I went to the morning dance festival. It was fun to see Kade, Taggart and Sienna dance. They aren't shy and it's fun. Kade danced to Dance Monkey. Taggart and Sienna danced to What Did the Fox Say.
Marshall, Lynnlee and G&G Lowry went to the afternoon performance. Lynnlee had some friends go to watch their younger siblings so she had fun being there with them. Plus they had fun seeing all of their old teachers.

Read-a-thon

Betsy is the best! While I was in Delta she went to Taggart's and Sienna's read-a-thon. They had snacks and read books together.

Thanks Aunt Betsy!

Delta

Normally I don't travel for Quest Diagnostics. I could if I wanted and a lot of nurses I work with travel to Idaho, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana. It doesn't really work with my family for now but it would be fun to at some point.

I had the opportunity to work in Delta. I decided to do it because I had been wanting to go to Delta/Hinckley. My parent's went there a few years ago and talked about our family history there including some family plots at the cemetery. I invited my parents to come along with me so they could show me the cemetery and around Hinckley.

My parents and I drove to Delta after James's awards night. We got there around 9:20pm and called it a night. I had to wake up 3:50 so I was grateful to get some sleep.

I drove with the other nurse to the plant Thursday morning. We worked from 5:00am-10:00am. My parents picked me up at the plant. My mom had lunch for us and we ate while we drove around. It was delightful.

The Hinckley cemetery was beautiful. It was very peaceful.
I hope it's twenty years before I need these cemetery plots but it's good to know where they are and such.

I had a nice day with my parents. We drove home the back way through Eureka. It was a nice drive.

9th Grade Awards

We got a post card in the mail inviting us to the 9th Grade Awards. Marshall took Kade to his soccer game so I went with James to the awards. Little did we know James was going to sweep the awards. He walked away with 10 awards! I liked how the school did the awards. It was very speedy. Every student picked up their certificates as they got there. Then for each category they put the names on the screen and all of those kids went up on the stage. The audience clapped, took pictures and then all exited. James was doing laps going up on stage and then coming off the other side and going back up again. It was so cool to see him awarded for all the good he does. He tries hard academically, he's friendly to all, and he has good grades. Nice guys don't have to finish last.

Last was the principal's award. James won and it was so awesome! Very well deserved!
James has a great group of friends and that's been a huge blessing. I'm excited to see what they accomplish in high school
