Riverton Triathlon

I completed my first triathlon. It has been on my bucket list but wasn't something I thought I would do for awhile. Thanks to plantar fasciitis I started swimming a lot and biking. So there is the blessing out of a trial. I remembered how much a I love swimming laps and I am getting better at biking. I'm a big wuss though and still have to work on that.
It was a small race with only 31 participants. Ali and I were 5th and 6th to start the swim. It was a longer pool than Lehi so that was kind of weird but also nice to have less turns.

I borrowed Marshall's road bike. It was only my third time ever riding it and I was not comfortable at all. I couldn't wait for that portion of the race to be over. The course was the Jordan River trail. The path to the trail was steep switch backs. I was slower than a snail going on that part. Then on the rest of the trail was so crowded and narrow that I never really got up any good speed.

The run was my jam and even though my pace has slowed a lot since my injury, I pushed it as hard as I could.

Here's the stats:
Overall 15/31
Gender 5/15
Age group 2/6

Swim 7/31
Bike 23/31
Run 7/31

I hope to do more triathlons in the future and it was so fun doing it with Ali. I just need to work on my biking before I sign up again.

Kaden's 5th Birthday

Kaden started his birthday out by fishing at Deer Creek on Grandpa Dan's boat.

I was at a race so he had to wait for me to get home before opening his presents. He was very patient and was so excited when the time came.

We were planning on going to Seven Peaks but due to the chemical spill half of it was closed. We ended up at the Provo pool. We figured out that Kaden was allowed to go down the big slides with Lynnlee and so they loved going over and over again.

He got a pogo stick which is what he asked for. I think he had more fun with the box than the pogo stick.

Taggart got sick that night so Marshall took James and Kaden to a movie.

The only open seats were on the front row. The boys loved it but Marshall's neck said otherwise.

Sunday Grandma and Grandpa Lowry came over and we had one last birthday party.
Kaden had a well child check and here are his stats:
Height 43" (61%) Weight 43.8lbs (72%) He must have the slowest metabolism. He never eats dinner and yet his growth continues.

Minis' 3rd Birthday

It was a fun week of birthdays when we got back from Florida. Aunt Pat surprised the minis and Kaden with a fun birthday party at my house on Wednesday.

Thursday was the July birthday party at the Provo pool. It was a fun party!

Friday was their actual birthday and started off with presents in bed. There are somethings with boy/girl twins that are tricky. Like which room do you gather in? Since Sienna woke up first we all went in to Taggart's to wake him up.

The got letter shaped pancakes for breakfast.

Side note: they had well child checks a few days after and here are their stats:
Taggart: Height 35.5" (9%) Weight 27.5 lbs. (11%) Head 15.5cm (32%)
Sienna: Height 38.25" (83%) Weight 32.25 lbs. (66%) Head 15.3cm (35%)

We went to Coconut Cove with cousins that morning. It is a really fun indoor playground. It reminds me of Discovery Zone that was around when I was a kid.

Here is my Pinterest fail. I decided to try something different for the minis' birthday dessert. I followed the directions on the box and filled the cones too full. I decided not to frost them because I didn't think it was worth it. I didn't think they were baked all the way through. Turns out they were baked perfectly and we ate them just like that. Probably better this way because if there is frosting on something that is all the minis eat.

Monday, Last Day

Our flight was Monday night so we made the most out of our last day. We went out to the beach and then swam in the pool.

These guys were all so silly on the drive to the airport. I'm glad they got their sillies out in the car though instead of the plane.

We had successful flights back home. No delays and the kids slept on the flight from Phoenix to home.
The flight attendants were very festive. They were all so nice and funny with making the safety part lively.

These are the faces of tired kids ready to fall asleep, which they did right after take off.

Sunday in Venice

Sunday we attended my grandma's old ward. It's been 13 years since she passed away but there are people there that knew her. She was a dedicated member and served so much. She played a big part in changing the branch to a ward. The ward is small and the church house is mini size. We walked around and showed the kids. The primary only had three classes total.

That night my aunt Donna had us over for dinner and swimming. Everyone had so much fun!

We also introduced the kids to Bocce Ball and shuffleboard.

My kids can be so shy but they opened right up to aunt Donna, my cousin Margaret and Melissa.

We made it back for our last sunset.

Saturday at the Movies

Saturday we went to Sarasota and saw Cars 3. We had a gift card for Regal but didn't realize it was in a shady part of town until we got there. That just made for some interesting people watching outside the movie theater. The minis and Kaden's bodies were so off and had to go to the bathroom five times during the movie!

We lowered the average age by a lot when we went to Cracker Barrel. Everyone was pretty tired and that made for some calm and polite kids. We had lots of older couples compliment their behavior. If only they knew what it is like at home during dinner.

It is fun when their is a pool out the door and you can go swimming as much as you want. I'm glad my kids all love water so much.

Friday Fun

We went souvenir shopping on Friday morning. We stopped at Nokomis Grove on the way home. Their orange ice cream is so delicious. It tastes like an orange dreamsicle when you get it with vanilla. There are long rows of benches so it's fun to sit together and enjoy the ice cream. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out for us. Kaden needed to go to the bathroom when we first got there. The store was closed because of it being off season. Marshall drove a few minutes away to a bathroom. I stayed with the others and when Marshall got back the minis needed to go so then I took a turn and drove to a bathroom. By the time we got back everyone was done so I got my ice cream to go and ate it in the car. That is just how things go sometimes.

Marshall found this cute tortoise behind the condo. He brought it down the beach so the kids could see it. They were squealing and laughing as the tortoise crawled around. It was pretty exciting stuff for these Utah kids that are used to squirrels and deer.

Lynnlee went with Marshall to pick up dinner while I stayed with the others at the pool. She was pretty excited to wear matching hats.
