Willowcreek Track

James competed in his first season of track. His first and second meets were at Westlake High School. He competed in the mile at both. His mile at the first meet was around 6:03. He set a goal to get under 6. The next meet he got 5:52

The third meet was at Orem Junior High. He got a PR with 5:46!

His fourth meet was at Mountain View High School. He didn't PR but stayed until 6. I didn't get a picture that day.

He qualified for Alpine Days which is the district championship for track. The top 3 of every event with gender and grade qualify to go to Alpine Days. He placed 5th out of all of the 7th grade boys in the district. The 7th grade boys from his school did so well in the whole track meet that they took first as a team!

Katelyn also competed at Alpine Days. She took first place in the mile, 800 meter and two mile! She rocked it! It was fun hanging out at Alpine Days with Ali and her family cheering on James and Katelyn.

Easter Dresses

I didn't get a picture of the girls' new dresses since Easter was the same Sunday as general conference. The boys have so many Sunday outfits, except for James, so they did not get a new Easter outfit. James loves his blue suit so he is so happy to wear that every week.

Racing Hot Wheels

Marshall read the article on KSL about a dad who raced toy cars with his kids on their treadmill. So he came home from work and raced cars with the kids. I was working and went to the basement to to see why the treadmill kept turning on and then off. I had no idea what they were doing. So fun and random! This is my kind of entertainment. One time when I was babysitting Grace and Sid, before we had kids, I had them bring toys since we didn't have any. They brought a bag of Hot Wheels. We were entertained for hours. I got some 2x4s and we made ramps and roads for them to drive on and down. It was so fun!

Spring Break '21

Spring break was a stay-cation. We also wanted to use our Get Out pass as much as possible. We started off Monday at Jump Around Utah. James and Kaden's friends' families joined us. They had a lot of fun and places like this are more fun with lots of kids to play tag, hide and seek, etc.

I gave Lynnlee my phone and told her to take pictures. She did a great job!

Tuesday we had appointments and stuff during the day so that night we went to The Escape Key. Some of James's friends came with us. The only room available was the hardest level of difficulty. We really enjoyed finding all of the clues but it was tricky. We did end up escaping but we got the final answers wrong about the situation of the attack.

Provo Beach Resort was on the way home so we stopped and played a round of laser tag since it's also on the pass. These were the only pictures I got from the whole night.

Wednesday we took lunch to Harvey Park in Cedar Hills.

That night we went bowling at Fat Cats.

Thursday we went to Sea Quest in Layton with Grandpa and Grandma Lowry. It is a really fun aquarium that definitely exceeded expectations! Also on the Get Out pass.

The aquarium said it's an interactive aquarium and I would definitely agree. It's like a petting zoo for sea life and other random animals. There was a pig in the first exhibit area. They had spiders, snakes, frogs, lizards, porcupine, sloth, sea otters, sting rays, and even little teeny tiny fish that eat your skin cells when you put your hands in the water (pictured below).

We went to dinner at Pizza Pie after the aquarium.

Then we decided to stop at the Salt Lake cemetery and see my aunt Pat's headstone. We miss her so much! Every Wednesday I think about her and miss spending time with her.

I've wanted to take my kids to Ensign Peak for a few years now and we decided to hike it spur of the moment. We were so close and it's a very short hike so we couldn't pass up the opportunity. We were not prepared though. Lynnlee was a trooper hiking in her sandals and Sienna in her dressy boots.

Saturday we went to In and Out Burger and an art studio with Grandma and Grandpa Lowry. Katelyn and Drew spent the day with us also.

We went to Angela Johnson's studio with her Tree of Life exhibit. She is an amazing self taught sculptor. She was the artist of the Light of the World Exhibit at the Thanksgiving Point gardens.
I love how her interpretation has the iron rod going up a steep hill. The picture I have of the Tree of Life has the iron rod going to the tree over flat ground. I think uphill relates more to real life.
The dark and spacious building was dark and the people there definitely represented some pretty dark and evil things.

We were close to Harvey Park and the kids wanted to take Marshall so he could experience it. The kids had fun and I love that even teenagers can enjoy it.

We went home and played roller hockey for a few hours. We are all a little rusty but it got better as the time went on.
We finished off the night at Jack and Jill's. We ate dinner while we bowled, played laser tag and arcade games. It was even more fun with cousins. Since we know Jack and some of the employees, and it wasn't very busy, they let us bowl in the VIP room.
