Jarvis Family Talent

We had family dinner Sunday and then the Jarvis Family Talent Show.

Lynnlee took flat beads so everyone could make bracelets for the bake sale.
Tag and Conner had an eating contest. I think that is always how their talent will be. First it was marshmallows, then mini hot dogs, and now goldfish crackers. Conner has won until this year. Tag claimed the victory.
I can't remember what was stuck in the tree but Kade climbed all the way up there to get it! This was before the talent show started. The pictures are out of order.
Sienna did a puppet show with her new frog puppet she got for her birthday from Grandma Ruth. She told some jokes and had us laughing.
There were some line dancing. Kade did the worm and jumped on a pogo stick. Lynnlee played the ukelele and Lydia sang.

Boating on Utah Lake

Saturday afternoon Charlie's family was busy. Our neighbors invited us to go boating so we took them up on it. I can't remember ever going to Utah Lake. My memory is pretty bad though so it's very possible I've been. It was fun to go and experience Utah Lake. It was beautiful, hot day. The kids and Marshall took turns boating. Lynnlee wasn't there though because she went to the movies with friends. Drew joined us instead. He was at the baptism and came home with us.

Half way through we took a break and all jumped in the water. It felt so nice. I couldn't believe how warm the water was for lake water. It was way warmer than Jordanelle and Deer Creek.

Conner's Baptism

Connor was baptized while he was in Utah. Taggart got to be a witness so he was very excited about that. It was a nice morning with his baptism and then lunch at the Scera Park.

Water Bounce House at Grandma's

Charlie's family came to visit. We planned every minute we could with them. Wednesday we had Grandma's Cooking and Crafts. We launched rockets with baking soda and vinegar. This will be in the post titled Grandma's Cooking and Crafts.

Friday my mom rented the big bounce house. Lynnlee got home from Oakcrest this day so she was so happy to spend time with Lydia.

Oakcrest

Lynnlee spent a week at Oakcrest, a camp for young women. You are eligible to go the summer after your 7th grade year. She went with her cousin Katelyn. They were bused to the camp near Kamas.

I felt so emotional dropper her off. Lynnlee is my buddy and loves going shopping with me. It was hard to let her go for a week. I had to hold back the tears.

She spent the week doing lot of fun things like learning fun camp songs, doing skits, hiking, crafts, giant slip n slide, and big rope swing. She also had lots of devotionals, spiritual classes, and a testimony meeting. It was a week she won't forget.
I was so excited to pick her up  when she got back on Friday.

Wind Rivers

In the past, the trip to Wind Rivers is not well documented. The pictures are on Marshall's phone and they never make it to the blog. This picture can save a place for a chance to add more pictures.

Marshall, James and Kade left early on Friday morning, July 21 and drove to Wind Rivers. Kade did a great job hiking. Since it is his first year we weren't sure how it would be. Also with his food pickiness we also weren't sure if he would get low blood sugar. Turns out everything went great and he felt good the whole time.

They enjoyed fishing, hiking, and some plunges into the frigid water. They hiked out on Wednesday morning and got home that afternoon.

Pioneer Day

Pioneer Day was very different this year. Marshall, James and Kade were at Wind Rivers. Lynnlee was at Oakcrest. That left Tag, Sienna and me. Thankfully my neighborhood planned a really fun day and night with a water bounce house, pot luck dinner and fireworks. It was just very lonely for me. Tag and Sienna had fun with all of the kids.

We set up the water bounce house in our backyard. It made it nice so Tag and Sienna could enjoy it as much as they wanted. If neighbors brought their kids over then I sat outside and visited. If no one was over then I got stuff done inside.

From 5:00-7:00 it got really hopping in our back yard. A lot of families came to enjoy the bounce house. It was quite the party! I got to meet a lot of new families who have moved in to the Arive Homes behind my old house.
The breaker started to trip from the bounce house fans being too much for the outlet. Of course this did not happen when Marshall was home and we had a bounce house for all of the July birthday parties. It had to wait until it was just me and tested what I knew and could do to fix it so the party could go on. Thankfully I was able to plug each fan into a different outlet and the problem was solved.

Dinner was at 7:00 so everyone left the bounce house and went across the street to the Berry's. I cleaned the whole bounce house by myself. Drained the water, dried and cleaned off grass. Cleaned up all of the toys. It was an exhausting night. I got the whole thing folded and ready to be loaded. When the fireworks were over I had some help from two neighbors to load it in my car. Tag and Sienna had fun with friends the whole time and I was on my own cleaning up, I didn't get to enjoy the pot luck dinner across the street. I didn't want kids to go back and get toys back out, play on the bounce house while I was trying to dry it. I saw a few fireworks at the end but I cleaned up for most of the show. It took a long time to fold and wrap up the bounce house that weighed a few hundred pounds.

Tag and Sienna came back in when the fireworks ended. They had a great Pioneer Day.

Barbie Movie and Lynnlee's Friends

Lynnlee went with her friends to see the Barbie movie. She found a cute Barbie shirt at Old Navy. She looked so cute in her whole outfit she put together.

It was fun to see the Barbie movie but I didn't love the message that I got out of the movie. I didn't mind if Lynnlee saw the movie but I talked to her about my feelings before she went and after she saw it. It was good to talk about God's plan for men and women and how we are equal.

Wasatch Aquatic Center

We spent some time with Ivy. It was a fun time at the pool in Heber.

Multi Stake Dance: Western Style

My presidency was in charge of a multi stake dance. It was held at the rodeo grounds. It was a big deal, with lots of planning and lots of stress. The stake youth leadership committee planned it but we helped execute the details. The other part was making sure what happened at the last multi stake dance, didn't happen at this multi stake dance. The last multi stake dance had to be shut down early because of youth throwing things at the DJ, vandalizing the church, throwing things at cars, etc. It would have been prevented with more chaperones. We wanted to have more than enough chaperones. Each youth on the SYLC had to provide two chaperones from their ward. Not everyone came through but we did have enough with those who were able to find chaperones. It was a busy holiday weekend so it made sense that it was hard to find volunteers.

The dance was a huge success! We expected 300 youth and we had over 700 youth!!! Our DJ was amazing! He helped make it so great. He has lots of experience from BYU dances. He was perfect!
A couple of us had headsets on so we could communicate and prevent problems. I felt so official and cool!
The night couldn't have gone better. We had nine square and corn hole set up, a shaved ice truck, plenty of water ( it was a hot night!), and roped off half of the arena to keep kids together.

Marshall was at Wind Rivers with Kade and James. Huge thanks to Betsy for taking Tag and Sienna. Lynnlee got to go to the dance with friends. It was a busy day getting ready and a very long night. I got homr around midnight and had to work on a talk I was giving in church the next day.

One other thing I did that I want to take note so I remember to do this in the future: I made a little thank you bag for the chaperones with treats and a granola bar for them to snack on through the night. I also had a cooler of water bottles and we took water around to all of them all night long to make sure they stayed hydrated.

Barbie

I loved playing with Barbies growing up. I know my sisters did too. So I definitely wanted to see the new Barbie movie with my sisters. It worked out perfectly to take Betsy out for her birthday to dinner and to the new Barbie movie. We went out to a Greek restaurant by Betsy's house that was so good! Then we went to Cinemark and we all had reclining seats. It was the best way to watch the movie.

The movie was pretty wild and unique. Not my favorite but definitely loved seeing some Barbie classics and funny things only someone who played with Barbies would understand.

I think the movie is too grown up for Sienna but I let Lynnlee see it with her friends. She found the last Barbie shirt at Old Navy. So lucky!

Tag and Sienna

I mentioned this before but it's been a weird summer. Normally we are doing things together but this summer as been different. I've taken just two or three of the kids to a lot of activities and that's feels strange. I'm not used to having smaller numbers. I took Tag and Sienna swimming and then we stopped at the store to get a few things.

They wanted to ride in the car carts. It's funny how they are the youngest in the family and so that makes them feel younger than they really are. They add to that by wanting to do baby and toddler things still. They always want to ride in the cart, play on baby things at the playground, etc.

La Roca Cup

The La Roca Cup was great for James's team and not so great for Kade's team. Either way though it was really fun having them both there playing hard.

Cam's family watched one of James's games.
James's team made it to the championship but lost so they took 2nd. Still exciting and they played hard. James is playing up this year so it's a new team but a coach he had when he first started club soccer.

Pleasant Grove Pool

We have had a hard time finding a groove this summer because some practices are in the morning and some are in the afternoon/evening. It makes it hard to go anywhere. Throw in jobs, babysitting, etc and it's tricky going to the same place all together. James didn't go with us to the pool because he was too tired in between cross country and soccer practice.

We checked out the Pleasant Grove pool and we really liked it. It has a slide, diving board, shallow, and wibits. I think it checked all of the boxes.

Surf Cup

Tag's team played in their first tournament and won!!! They won all three games and then the final game Saturday morning.

Kade's birthday and party

Kade is 11!!! He is a very fun and entertaining 11-year-old. He loves telling jokes. He loves to make people laugh. He's very quick witted and smart. He is good at making friends and talking to kids he doesn't know. He is very active and enjoys soccer and basketball. It is an exciting summer as he is preparing to go to Wind Rivers with Marshall and James for his first time. He feels very grown up being able to go back pack that far.

He wanted a new pogo stick because he grew out of his old one. He also picked out a Lego set and since he knew exactly what he was getting, he asked for a scavenger hunt for his presents. He wanted a really hard scavenger hunt. So he had about 12 clues that he had to find and his presents were hidden along the way with the pogo stick last.

Kade wanted to have his soccer team at his birthday party and his neighborhood/school friends. We knew that would be too many all at once. We decided to break it into two groups. We rented a fun shark inflatable slide for the day. Kade started first with his soccer team. They were rough and tough and had a great time on the slide. When they weren't on the slide they played nine square. It was over lunch time so we had pizza for everyone.

His second party was the last one of the day. Tag and Sienna had their's in between. Kade has his neighborhood and school friends. One of his gifts was this slip n slide. The boys had so much fun sliding down it.
