Small Foot

Marshall took the kids to the movies for family night a few weeks ago. I came down with the stomach flu so I was grateful they could get out and have fun.

Wise Man

I felt some stress with the new change to the Sunday schedule. Sundays are a delight but they can be a little long with Marshall's schedule as a bishop. Three hours of church has been great for the ages of my kids. We are all fed spiritually and then we spend time together after our meetings are over. The new changes give me more responsibility for teaching my kids at home. Hopefully it means Marshall won't have more meetings and that we'll see him an extra hour and he can share in the teaching.

On the other hand there is excitement in the change if we have the kids take turns preparing and teaching. Lynnlee really wanted to teach the Wise Man and the Foolish Man story a few Sundays ago. She gathered up all of the supplies and then taught the lesson. It was really fun for her to be the teacher. My kids think really literally and so I tried to help them apply this lesson to their own lives. Hopefully they can continue to build their own firm foundations now so they will enjoy attending church, keeping the commandments and keeping covenants down the road.

Little Women

Ali and I took Betsy and my mom to dinner and a movie for their birthdays. It was such a great night!
We had dinner at Taqueria 27. Mmmmmm!
We saw the movie Little Women....a modern version made by Utah writer/director. I loved it! It was the perfect movie to see with my mom and sisters. We missed having Katie and I wished she lived closer.

Thanks to Marshall for holding down the fort and giving me a night off!

BYU Soccer

James's soccer coach plays for BYU. He arranged for James's team to be ball boys at one of the games.

Spotlight

Recently I was on the Utah School Nurses website. I haven't embraced school nursing yet but I am learning a lot and I love learning about the structure and inter workings of a school.

New Routine

This year James, Lynnlee and Kaden are on the early bird track at school. That means school starts at 8:00 and ends at 2:15. It's an hour and fifteen minutes earlier than last year but it also means an extra hour and fifteen minutes after school. I love the new schedule and sometime wonder why we didn't make the change sooner. The time we have after school is so worth it. I'm not going to lie, some mornings come so quickly and it's hard to get everyone up and moving but it's still better. It's also made us all start going to bed earlier. We started doing scripture study in the mornings. I try to make home made breakfast every other day. On the other days we have cold cereal, muffins or toast.

James, Lynnlee and Kaden each took time to help me bottle peaches. They really enjoyed it and were amazed by the whole process.

I have loved the new routines of this school year. I have time with the minis where we play or go run errands. They have a music class Tuesday afternoons while the others are in school.

They go to preschool Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. While they are at school on Wednesdays I go to the temple. Sometimes it's initiatory ordinance and sometimes I get to do a session with the help of my aunt Pat coming to my house when the minis get home from preschool. It works out well car pooling with my neighbor because she drives on Wednesdays. I really look forward to my Wednesdays and temple time. It doesn't get any better. Actually it does because my mom goes with me to the temple and that is very special to me. Ali got to come a few weeks when it worked out with her schedule. Good times!

These are some random ones. James loves watching a show when he has free time at the end of the day. He made quite a comfy bed on the couch.

This statue is outside of our library. We are there a lot and the minis like sitting by it.
