Sewing Project

My Sisters-in-law and I love to hang out weekly. Sometimes we make projects, sometimes we go to the zoo, Thanksgiving point, a restaurant, etc.....it just depends. Tuesday we got together and sewed pillow cases.

I didn't take pictures of the whole process but you choose a graphic-I chose a dog. Then you pick three colors of fabric and layer them underneath. You sew the pattern of the graphic through all three layers of fabric. Then depending on what color you want showing for each part of the graphic you cut that deep throug the fabric. After that I sewed the whole thing onto a pillow case I had made. The pillow case has lots of little dogs on it.

Then you cut and fray all of the edges. I put it in the washer and dryer to help it fray better.

This is the finished product, minus the pillow.

P-A-R-T-Y!

We celebrated James and Miriel's birthdays this past Saturday. Miriel is James cousin who was born 12 days after him. To celebrate we had an Elmo and Zoe party at Liberty Park in Salt Lake. Thanks to Bonnie's cake pan, cake decorating kit from my mother-in-law, and the skills my Mom taught me in 4-H, Marshall and I made these cakes for the party. We felt like we were on one of those cake decorating shows. It was a lot of fun! I made the big cakes and Marshall made the little ones. I at least had a Sesame Street cake pan which made it easier. Marshall is amazing because he used cake scraps and sculptured his own cakes.

After lunch they opened presents.

Then it was time to dig in!
Of course he loved it!

Even though he doesn't show it.

Liberty park has awesome fountains and rivers you can play in. The kids loved it and were happy to cool off on a hot day!

Betsy's Birthday

Last week Betsy, my sister, and I had the chance to have girl's night out to celebrate her birthday. Her birthday was in July but since we've both been so busy this summer this was our first chance to go out. We went to dinner at Paradise Bakery and then saw the movie The Time Traveler's Wife. We had a fun night! Happy Birthday Sista!

One Year Pictures

Olivia (Marshall's sister) took Jameson's one year pictures. James wasn't so happy at first but after giving him some milk and mac and cheese he was much happier. Thanks Olivia for the great pics!

One Year Old!

James is officially a year old today! He woke up early this morning and was really happy.

We started off with pancakes for breakfast.
Then we went to his last day of swimming lessons. We've been taking a Mom and Tot class the past two weeks. It was fun and he learned a couple of things but take my advice and wait til you child is at least 18 months. James would have liked it better then because a lot of the time he wanted to do his own thing. He doesn't exactly follow instructions yet.

Then we came to Heber to play with his cousins.

Even though his official birthday party isn't until next week, we sang to him and he got a cupcake. He loved the cupcake, all of it!

Happy Birthday James!

Stay tuned for pictures from his "real" birthday party next week.

Boys will be boys...

James got his first black eye this past week. (It happened while I was at work :) This picture isn't that great but James would not hold still long enough to get a good close up of it.

He got the black eye climbing on this ride at Wal Mart.

The funniest part is that we've been trying to take his one year pictures since Monday. He's bumped his face almost everyday since then. I'm pretty much giving up and if he has a huge old bruise in his pictures at least it will be true to his personality.

New Addition to the Family

My sister Ali had her baby last night. His name is Andrew Dan Carlile. He is so cute and has so much hair! It's nice to have another boy in the family. There are 7 neices and 4 nephews so the boys are really out numbered.

Ali, Katelyn and Andrew

Betsy and Andrew James was so jealous when Marshall held Andrew. He would go up to Marshall and cling his leg and whine. I think he thought he was being replaced. James gave Marshall extra attention and hugs the rest of the afternoon after we left the hospital.

Surf N Swim

Last night we went to my work's summer party at Layton Surf n Swim. We weren't able to swim very long with the colder weather but we still got in the pool for a little bit. James loved the waves.
After swimming we ate dinner and James played on the play ground. Sorry the picture is blurry. He moves so fast these days it hard to get good pictures.

Our New Friend

Every morning I take James with me running. We try to go on different roads and explore American Fork. Now we have a new favorite path that goes by a pasture of horses. The past couple of times I stop and let James see the horses. This pony always comes over to him. It's so cute.
