REAL Salt Lake: La Roca Night

Kade's team went to La Roca night at the REAL Salt Lake game. His team also got to help with the flag on the field and play mini games on the field at half time. It was so fun for him and his teammates. Marshall took him since I was still recovering. The weather was much warmer this time.

Baptisms

James and Lynnlee have each set a goal to go to the temple once a month. I go every week with my friend Robin so it's tricky for me to take them. Marshall takes James and Lynnlee each month and that has worked great. I'm glad they've been able to meet their goal.

Sisters Lunch

I love spending time with my sisters. I also like going out to lunch for birthdays. I wanted to take Ali to Gourmandise for her birthday. We got there and there was a huge line so we had to come up with a new plan. Zupas is always a good choice and they are fast so it worked well for our schedules. We will have to try Gourmandise for another sisters lunch.

MUSE

Muse is one of my top favorite bands. My sister Katie introduced me to their music when I was in high school. Marshall and I have been to one of their concerts five years ago. It was so good! We knew went had to go when they announced their tour last summer. They don't tour in Salt Lake very often. James and Lynnlee also love Muse. They are a little young for a concert but again, this doesn't happen very often. James is only home for a few more years so we decided to take them too. Grace met us at our house and we drove together.

Beckie, Anthony, and Lilly met us there.

The concert was so good! The lights, effects, sounds, were all so cool! We were upper bowl to the right of the stage and so close to the very top. We could access above and so we went and stood closer to the center of the stage throughout the concert to get the best view.

Pre FSY

I got a new calling in January. It was not a calling I saw coming. Marshall and I met with the first counselor in the stake presidency the middle of December. I figured it was for him because I was put in the primary presidency in June. I was completely shocked when I was asked to be the Stake YW president. Seriously though, so shocked. I had one of the feelings where the room got really small, I felt my blood stop and I thought it wasn't real. Then as he explained the calling I got really emotional. The thoughts going through my head were.....I don't have leadership skills, I'm a great minion, I've never had a stake calling, why would I be right for this calling, etc. So many doubts. I said yes but I left there in tears. We had to drive to Salt Lake that night and I cried on the way up and the way back. Marshall asked if I wanted to talk about it and I said no. I wasn't ready to.

The next few days I really appreciated my "me" time swimming laps and running. I started praying about my presidency. The first counselor and secretary had only been in for a year or so, so I felt good about them staying in. Then I started thinking about a second counselor. My friend Jeanne Marie came to mind and I was ecstatic. Seriously felt so good and was so excited. It was over the holidays so she wasn't notified for a couple of weeks and it was so hard to hold it all in. Once she was notified I was so happy to be able to talk to her about it.

Our presidency was sustained on January 8th. I was super nervous and overwhelmed. I felt very emotional. I also felt very supported by my presidency and excited to work with them.

Ward conferences were the first big thing that we planned and started attending. I helped make an outline for the youth presidency to teach the second hour lesson. I could see God's hand in it. I was suppose to work that day of the meeting with the first counselor in the stake presidency and the YW president. My internet wasn't working and my laptop also was having problems. So because I couldn't work, I made an outline for the lesson. That was a huge help.

The first ward conference was a little shaky but worked out well. Then we improved and made small changes along the way.

The next big thing was assigning youth to the Stake Youth Leadership Committee. Then helping them plan a pre FSY activity. The planning was during my surgery and recovery so that was a little tricky. My presidency helped a lot though.

We had the pre FSY activity on a Friday night from 5-7. We had dinner, a short speaker, get to know you games, service project, line dancing, and a treat. It went well and we were happy with the turnout.

Easter

The Easter Bunny came on Saturday morning. Then our neighborhood had an Easter Egg hung and brunch. I made homemade cinnamon rolls Friday because I had time while everyone was skiing. It was a fun brunch with neighbors. Sienna and Taggart participated in the egg hunt. My kids are some of the oldest on our street so I felt like Kade was too old. Lynnlee and James both had soccer so they were gone.

We went to Heber East Sunday after church. Ben came to our Easter egg hunt there. Sienna was his buddy.

We had an enjoyable time there and it was fun for me to get out of the house and get out of Lehi!

We took this picture after church. We did Easter In Eggs after the egg hunt and dinner. It was good to focus on the real reason we celebrate Easter. I appreciated Elder Stevenson's talk from General Conference about increasing our focus and celebration on Christ around Easter. It should be celebrated just as big as Christmas. I think it's so awesome how Texas has time off for Good Friday. They seems to focus on the week before Easter a lot better than everyone in Utah.

Spring Break

I thought I was going to feel so good by spring break. We had a reservation at Zions National Park camp ground for Wednesday-Saturday. So that was the plan but James found out he had mandatory practices Friday and Saturday of spring break for soccer. Then we realized I wouldn't be feeling up for a camping trip, nor would it be smart for my healing. We cancelled our reservation and made stay-cation plans. Marshall was a huge help because I really couldn't do much.

Sunday night Kade, Taggart and Sienna stayed at Grandma Ruth's. Monday Lynnlee had a heart check up at Primary Children's. She is now on a 6 month schedule. This has been very hard for her. She was not happy about spending her first day of spring break at the doctor's. Her friends had plans so it was interfering with those plans. I couldn't change the appointment so we made the best of it. She still got to hang out with a friends after we got back.

The younger kids got to stay one more night in Heber. They came back Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday morning Marshall took Sienna to a special activity. (Everyone earned a special activity for being good while we were gone on our trips) Then he came home and took everyone to Airborne.

Thursday went to the Rush with Betsy and Grace came too. Everyone had a blast doing the bumper cars, go karts, rock wall, foam pit, mini golf and trapeze. That night we went to the Super Mario movie. It was so good!

Friday Marshall took Lynnlee, Kade, Tag and Sienna skiing. I made sure James got to his practice

Saturday we had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt and then Marshall took everyone to Lagoon. I stayed home and worked. It was a strange spring break! I got a lot of work done for Cotiviti that week. Normally I barely get 20 hours during spring break. This time I got over 30.
