Slide Home

A few weeks ago we were at Aunt Lisa's and my kids discovered a slide off the bunk beds in one of the rooms. They played on it the whole time we were there. They really wanted one after that and Marshall had been wanting to make one for our bunk beds. I worked a bunch of shifts in a row last weekend and Marshall and the kids stayed busy making a slide. They sent me these pictures while I was at work. They have been having fun on it ever since.  It's nice to have on rainy days when they can't play outside.

Safe Kids

Saturday was a busy day. Marshall worked on the basement and my kids had a primary activity. Then I decided to take them to the Safe Kids Expo. It was so crowded and it was Kaden's nap time so he was having a lot of melt downs. At one point he was happy for a little while playing on an obstacle course with James and Lynnlee. I saw a photographer take a picture while they were playing but I didn't think anything of it. Then a few minutes later he came over and got James's name and age. I'm amazed out of all the people there we happened to get in a picture. My kids had fun at all the booths and activities. It's nice to have a fun way to teach them ways to be safe.

Click here for the link to the article in the Deseret News with our picture. If it doesn't work then below is a snap shot of the picture and subtitle from the article.

At the Unified Police booth there was a fitness challenge with sit-ups, push-ups and jumps. These two did great and pushed themselves a lot to do more.

Week in pictures

Here is last week in pictures. We started off the week with President's Day and hung out at my parent's house. It's nice how easy young kids are to please on a holiday. We didn't have to do anything big, elaborate or expensive. We went to grandmas and Lucy came over and they played all day and loved it.

Kaden had a follow up on his eye Wednesday. So far everything looks good still and the plan is to take the tube/stent out in a year. Kaden was so good at the appointment and didn't have any melt downs.

Lynnlee and I having a girls' afternoon while James was at a friend's house and Kaden was napping.

Kaden camps down anywhere. Apparently he was trying to tell me he was ready for bed.

I love the weather lately. Friday we enjoyed the afternoon in the back yard.

Cabin Fever

After being at home all week with these cuties, we were ready to get out of the house by Saturday. Marshall had young mens so the kids and I went to the duck pond and then to Discovery Park. It was warmer than it has been even though it was cloudy. James and Lynnlee rode their scooters around the path.

Kaden and I walked and tried to keep up with them.

There weren't very many people at Discovery Park. It was so nice that it wasn't crowded.

When it was time to go I couldn't find James. After looking around for a few minutes I found him hiding in this dinosaur head singing the fox song. It was pretty cute!

Basement Builders

We didn't plan on finishing our basement but thank goodness we have the space because we need it. The basement project is now underway. Marshall and his dad started building shelves in the storage room a week ago. They finished up the first storage room at the end of the day and we now have large, sturdy shelves.

Here is half the room before:

Here is the same half the room after:

Marshall was busy every night this week working on the cold storage room under the porch.
Here is the before picture:

Last night he completed the last shelf and we now have a place to put food storage! He did a great job!
Here is the after:

Now that the storage rooms are done we can move all the boxes out of the rest of the basement to make room for construction. When all is said and done we will have another bedroom, bathroom and family room. I can't wait!

Twin Hearts

I had another check up this week. It is so nice getting an ultrasound each appointment. I have the best doctor, not all doctors do that with twins. Everything went well and both babies look great. The view of this picture is looking down at their hearts. We could see both hearts so well even though they are so little. We see a specialist in a few weeks to find out their gender and get a complete check through all of their organs. With Lynnlee's history we get a really thorough ultrasound on each heart. That will be nice to get some peace of mind.

I can't believe how big I am this time. I'm 15 weeks but my belly is the size when I was 19 weeks with one baby. So crazy!  I found this comic yesterday and it pretty much demonstrates how I feel most days.

It's worth it in the end though. Every time I hold babies at work I get excited to have my own.

Soldier Hollow

Last week we went tubing to Soldier Hollow for my dad's birthday. Well, my family went tubing. I watched from the bottom because this pregnancy is high risk and I don't want to risk anything either. Tubing there is really not too dangerous and I doubt there are that many accidents but there's always the what ifs. I bet 99% of people are safe tubing there and then 1% get hurt. Well, I'm that 1%. That's just my luck with everything.

So anyways, my kids loved it. Kaden played in the little kid section for a little while and then Marshall took him on a few of the runs. Lynnlee was Aunt Betsy's buddy. She stuck with her and Betsy took good care of her. James was so excited his cousin Lucy was there and they had fun going with Marshall on the fast runs.

Kaden nestled into this tube and didn't leave it for about an hour.

Lynnlee stayed put in her tube the whole time. What would it be like to be a kid again and just get to enjoy the fun without the work of pulling the tube around.

I put my snow clothes on and watched for the first hour and then Kaden and I went to the lodge with my parents to warm up.

It was a lot of fun and nice to get out. The downside of pregnancy is having to say goodbye to skiing, tubing and all the fun winter activities for this season. I don't know if I'll be going much next year either. Oh the things we do for babies and our kids. I look forward to the years when my kids are old enough and we can have family ski days.
