James XC: Timpanogos Invitational

James raced in the Timpanogos Invitational. In the past years they've raced in the after school race. This year he raced in the morning race. That made it so nice for holiday weekend! He didn't do as well this race. His time was 16:04. He was 15th so it was still really good but he wasn't as happy with his race. I tried to point out all of the good things. He was still 2nd on his team, he was fast than most of the other racers there, and he is still very fast even if it wasn't the time he wanted.

James's Team: Akatsuki

James decided he didn't want to play club soccer and instead form a AA team and just have a chill season. So he formed a team. Marshall agreed to be the coach or responsible adult. They named their team Akatsuki and designed their jerseys. They had their first game and won! 

It is going to be a fun season!

Rose First Day of School and Lab

My first day of school was also my first day of lab. I wanted my picture taken on the porch. Can you believe I've been in graduate school for 1 year!

I carpooled with Tressa and Jackie to lab. It was so nice going with them! It's going to be a great semester.

August Birthdays

We celebrated August Birthdays with my family. We had meatball subs. Mmmm! Dessert was ninja turtle cake. Double Mmmm! It was good eating! It was fun seeing everyone. It's always not enough time. I can't wait until we have early church and can have longer time with family on Sundays.

It is so crazy how grown up these three are!

Rose's Two Week Break: Pavers and Blankets and Queen of Hearts

I had two weeks off in between summer and fall semesters. I packed my weeks full of projects, cleaning, and errands. I started off with  extending the sidewalk to the street with pavers. I've always wanted the sidewalk to extend. It is a lot of money for a tiny piece of cement. Pavers were in the budget.

Next I finished everyone's high school blankets. When Joanns went out of business I bought fabric for everyone. They still have to wait until they are in 9th grade. The blankets are finished and ready for them.

After that I made a Queen of Hearts costume for Sienna. She went to a mystery party for her friend's birthday party. Ava used to live by us and now lives about ten minutes in north Lehi. Sienna enjoys playing with her still and eventually they will go to middle school together. Sienna said the party was fun but also tricky because she only knew Ava. The rest of the girls are in Ava's class or neighborhood. Sienna felt left out but tried to make the most of it.

I deep cleaned my house including the fridge, art room, lockers, and my room. It was a very exhausting but productive two weeks!

James XC: UIAAA Invitational

Since it is James's senior year, each race gets it's own post. He is one speedy guy! His first race was in Spanish Fork. UIAAA Invitational is the name of the race. It was held at the Spanish Fork Complex. We had soccer games so Grandpa and Grandma Lowry went to the race. Unfortunately they didn't get any pictures. James had a great race! James took 8th place in the boys varsity 5k. The top ten got a medal so he got a medal! His time was 15:49. 

Sienna's Cousin Sleepover

 While Marshall, James and friends were camping, Sienna had a cousin sleepover. London and Scarlet joined us for a fun night and morning. They had fun playing dress up and pretend. 

Jame's 17th Birthday!!!

James turned 17 on the first day of school. What a rough day for a birthday. We kind of had to split his birthday into two days and had his party on the weekend. We had German pancakes for his birthday breakfast. He got to open his presents which were long awaited. Lynnlee had his present wrapped for almost a month! He went to school and then had cross country. 

He went from cross country to young men/young women's. They went rappelling in AF canyon. James and Lynnlee went at the same time.

They roasted hot dogs so decided to wait and have his birthday dinner the following night. Thursday night we had lasagna, garlic bread, and Caesar salad. 

He went to the movies for his birthday that week as well. Marshall, Lynnlee, and James went together. 

He wished he could have gone to Twenty One Pilots concert for his birthday but it just wasn't going to work out. I still wanted him to have a fun birthday and something unique. So we planned a friends camp out that weekend. Marshall took them all in the suburban and put all of their stuff in the kayak trailer. They had pizza at our house Friday night. We even got Pier 49 which is super fancy and James loves it. They left our house around 7:00pm. They enjoyed their time at their campsite talking around the fire. They had s'mores and I sent homemade Oreo cookies for James's birthday cake. James and his friends devoured them. Saturday morning they hiked around and hung out. They didn't have to rush leaving camp. They had yummy pancake, sausage, and egg breakfast. I helped prep everything and Marshall cooked it all. Oh and orange juice and chocolate milk. Mmm! It was a good morning. They were going to go kayaking at Tibble Fork but it was a little chilly so they headed home and made it back around lunch time. They all seemed to have a fun time!

First Day of School

The first day of school and James's birthday happened on the same day this year. This is a first. School used to start the third week of August but it keeps getting earlier and earlier. The next post will be about James's birthday.

This year James is in 12th! Lynnlee is in 10th and at the high school with James. Yay! Kade is in 8th at Willowcreek Middle School. Tag and Sienna are in 6th grade at Dry Creek Elementary in Ms. Seedall's class. They got the best teacher this year! She is newer to the school but is very organized, has a good attitude and treats the kids with respect. 

Tag and Sienna walk or ride to school. Kade takes the bus. Marshall takes Lynnlee to school on his way to work around 7:10 on A days. On B days Lynnlee has early morning seminary. Marshall takes her around 6:15 and then heads to work early. James was suppose to have early morning seminary as well so they could drive together. They both decided to try to change and take normal seminary during the day, the day before school started. James was able to change his schedule but Lynnlee couldn't change hers. The second half of the year they will both have seminary in their school day so Marshall just has to take her for this semester. James drives himself and since he has cross country every day after school, he can't bring Lynnlee home. Sometimes she takes the bus home and sometimes I pick her up. The high school bus is rough so it is good when she doesn't have to ride it.

Deer Valley and the Utah Symphony

We were so lucky to get to use Aunt Kathy's extra tickets to the Utah Symphony at Deer Valley! It even included a VIP dinner. Mmmm! We got there around 6:00 and ate dinner in the lodge. The food was so yummy and there were plenty of gluten free items so I filled up and felt good. We went out to our seats around 7:20. We were on the third row right in the center. It was so awesome! It felt so intimate. The band who performed with the symphony was a Journey Tribute band so they performed songs by Journey. It was perfect because I went to a Journey concert in high school and I own lots of Journey CDs. I loved all of the music! They waited to play Don't Stop Believing until the 2nd encore! 

This was the lead singer. He sounded a lot like Steve Perry.

This was the lead guitarist. He was amazing.

There was an intermission half way through. They have yummy gluten free baked goods at Deer Valley so I got a s'mores cookie and a brownie. Mmmm!

At the end of the concert we got a picture with some of the band. It was such a fun night!

Boating

We took my Dad's boat out at Jordanelle. A cold front came in so it was a little chilly and very windy. We made the most out of it though and had fun cruising around the lake. Some of the kids enjoyed riding on the tube. Betsy joined us and that was really fun having her hang out with us!

We missed not having Papa Kelly and Grandma Ruth with us!

They can get along!

Youth Music Festival

Our stake combined with 11 other stakes for the youth music festival. It was a really nice night of live performances of all of the songs on the 2025 youth album. I was at a cross country meeting but made if for the last few songs. The youth who performed did a very good job!

Museum of Natural Curiosity

Thanksgiving Point had a week where Lehi residents could get in for $5 each. I took Kade, Tag, and Sienna and they each invited a friend. I had a lot of homework that week so I dropped them off, did some homework at home, and then went back. When I went back I took them lunch. They came out to a grassy area and ate. Then they went back in and played. They were there for about 5 hours total!

Lowry Doors 75th

Lowry Door celebrated their 75th anniversary! That is quite the accomplishment! Marshall and his staff had a fun afternoon planned. Orem City had a representative there and they had a ribbon cutting. 

There were streamers that popped out of a ring type of contraption. The kids loved them. Sienna especially loved them and collected all of the streamers.

Arctic Circle was also celebrating their 75th so they donated 75 shakes for the festivities. They also had sandwiches and chips, activities for the kids, and shirts and hats.

Aunt Kathy's Pool

Aunt Kathy hosted a pool party and invited the extended Jarvis family. It was so fun to see distant cousins and catch up with close cousins!

The food was good as always. The wasps were extra bad though. Marshall went to Smiths and bought wasp spray. He drained a whole can spraying it in the pool cover hole.
