18 more days...

There are only 18 more days until a race I've been training for, for months. I'm running the Salt Lake City Half Marathon on April 18th. I'm 10% nervous and the rest is pure excitement. It's been a blast to train for. James comes with me in the jogger stroller. However strollers aren't allowed in the race so I'm going to miss his company.

In high school I helped my sister Ali train for a marathon. I would run with her on the short days and on the long days rollerblade along side of her. I saw how hard it was and thought I could never run a marathon. I was a little hesitant to train for a half marathon but the training is different than a marathon. The long runs aren't as long and I enjoy them because of that.

I've enjoyed running since I was in high school. I never ran on the cross country team but I would run for exercise. Ali and I had fun running a couple of 5k races together.

I just found out yesterday that I get to run the Wasatch Back this summer! It is something I wanted to do last year but I had one thing stopping me. I was 7 months pregnant. So I am way excited to get to participate this summer! Our team consists of 12 girls. The race is 178 miles from Logan to Park City. Each team member runs 3 legs of the race over a 24 hour period. It's complete madness and fun at the same time. I can't wait!

Pet World

Marshall had the best idea on Friday. James loves animals and especially dogs. We have no plans of getting a pet in the near future so we thought it would be fun to take James to a pet store so he could see the animals. He loved it! Check out this video:

Confessions of a Shopaholic

If you are in the mood to go to the movies but aren't sure what movie to see I have a recommendation. Confessions of a Shopaholic just came out and it's a great movie! Marshall and I went a couple of weekends ago and we both enjoyed it! It's cute, clean, and I laughed through the whole movie!

Here's one of my favorite quotes from the movie:

You know that thing when you see someone cute and he smiles and your heart kind of goes like warm butter sliding down hot toast? Well that's what it's like when I see a store. Only it's better.

Family Weekend

This past Friday we had a party with my family. To start off we met at the Kamas Aquatics Center to swim. The kids all loved it and didn't get bored with all the slides, lazy river and fountains.

We had a little blessing happen when we first got there. Grace lost her earring while we were going around the lazy river, right under the waterfall. She recently pierced her ears and still needs to have her earrings in 24/7. We all tried to look for it but didn't have any luck. Marshall borrowed some goggles from another person swimming there (so nice!). He was able to find the front and back of Grace's earring! Amazing!

After swimming we got take out from Holiday Lanes, Heber's bowling alley. They have the best cheese burgers and shakes.

We ate at Katie's a.k.a. my parent's house.

After dinner the guys watched the kids so the girls could go to the store to get snacks and supplies for crepes for breakfast the next morning. When we got back we put all the kids to bed.
We played Rock Band until 2 am. It was so fun. We switched around on each instrument but I think my favorite was the singing. I enjoyed belting it out knowing that my family wouldn't think I was a weirdo. I know I'm not a good singer but that doesn't mean singing isn't fun.

Saturday morning we had delicious crepes with strawberries, pudding and whipped cream. Yum! It was a nice sunny day with a little wind so we took the kids to the park. We happened to have kites in our car and had fun letting the kids fly them.

Locks of Love

Two years ago I donated my hair to Locks of Love. Last week I decided it was time again to cut it off and donate. Last Wednesday Beckie and I went to Heber so Bonnie could cut it for us. Beckie donated her hair too. It's so nice to have a change.

Here are the before and after pictures.

Welcome to Sunny Florida!

I've always been a Florida girl at heart. My mom has family there and so we vacationed there a lot growing up.

We love to build sand castles while we are there!

If I could move to Florida I would. When Marshall was applying for jobs after he graduated,he applied to a couple of places in Florida. Although none of the jobs went through maybe we could retire there :)
Marshall had a convention in Orlando over the weekend. My Aunt Donna and Uncle John live 2 hours away, in Venice. Instead of trying to go back and forth to Orlando and Venice in a short amount of time, James and I spent the weekend with my Aunt and Uncle in Venice. We didn't see Marshall which is quite funny since we were both in Florida. He was busy working at the convention the whole time. It was actually his idea that we stay with my Aunt and Uncle so we would have something fun to do while he worked.

James and I flew in Thursday afternoon. I was so nervous to fly with James without Marshall's help. It was awesome to see how many people offered to help me out. They would all say, "I have kids so I totally understand!" James was great on the plane. My Aunt picked us up from the airport. Since our trip was short we had planned out every minute.
That night we got ice cream from Nokomis Grove. It's an orchard that has a store selling fresh fruit and ice cream made from fresh fruit. It's the best! That was before dinner of course because a lot of stores in Florida close early so we had to get there before closing time. Then my Uncle John had a yummy dinner for us when we got home.
Friday my Aunt took James for a walk with her dog Ozzy (who James absolutely adored!), so I could go running. Thanks Aunt Donna!

Ozzy and James.

Then we went to the beach by my Uncle Joe's condo. It's a private beach so it's not as crowded. I had to keep an eye on James because he would play in the sand and then try to eat it. He enjoyed getting his feet wet in the water too.

For lunch we ate hot dogs on the South Jetty. It's a popular place for fishing. The weather was beautiful, warm 80 degrees.

That afternoon we went swimming in the pool at my Aunt Donna's condo. When we got back James was really fussy and not acting like himself. Later we realized he had cut his first tooth!

We took it easy during the evenings so James could go to sleep. My Aunt had a pack n' play for James to sleep in. He had no problem falling asleep after a day full of activities.

Saturday morning my Aunt and Uncle took us to the pancake breakfast at their church. James even got to have some pancakes.

Saturday afternoon we spent with my friend Megan who lives in Port Charlotte, Florida. We met when we were juniors in high school while I was vacationing there with my family. My Grandmother asked her to hang out with Ali and I. Little did we know our friendship would continue.
We drove to Siesta Key which is my most favorite beach in Florida. The sand is so white and soft. James sunburns so easily so I was trying to decide if I should put his hat on or put suncreen in his hair. I opted for sunscreen in his hair which gave him a killer hair do. He loved sitting in the shallow water as the waves washed up on him. We had to keep a close watch so he wouldn't crawl into the water.

After the beach we got ice cream at a family favorite called Big Olaf to celebrate Megan's birthday.

Sunday James and I went to church with my Aunt and Uncle. Then my Aunt made a delicious lunch before we had to leave to the airport. We were sad to leave but so happy that it was a great weekend! Thanks Aunt Donna and Uncle John for being Jameson's substitute grandparents!

Girl's Night Out

I love girl's night out with my family! My Aunt Pat had all of the girls over for fondue Friday night. We went all out.....beef, chicken, and shrimp dipped in a yummy broth. Then crusty bread in a cheese sauce. Then we ended it with a chocolate fondue with yummy treats to dip. It takes a long time to eat fondue because of the cooking time. It was so nice not to have to rush through dinner. I can't remember the last time I spent 2 hours on the main course. It was good to catch up with everyone. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have my Mom and Andrea there. We will have to do it again when my Mom gets home and Andrea is visiting!

Thanks again Aunt Pat!
