Pictures of James

This post is for those who don't get to see James very often. He's always changing and doing fun things. Sometimes I'm lucky to catch a picture of it. These are taken from my phone so some of them are a little blurry.
One night I was making dinner and heard James up in his room just chatting away to himself. I tiptoed upstairs to make sure he was ok. I found him in his rocking chair reading to himself.

Beckie is always so great to watch James for us. She took this picture and sent it to us so we knew James was being good. Marshall said he thought it looked like an awkward date.
James loves playing with the laundry baskets....
and this rug for some reason?
He has a shoe fettish like his Daddy. He loves taking out his shoes, lining them up, trying them on, or scattering them around the house. Tonight I was cleaning up and found one of his shoes in every room!

I know I've posted a lot of shopping cart pictures but I couldn't resist another one.

One day James....

He normally has pants on but his pants got wet from playing in the puddles outside so I took them off when we came in. Then he found Marshall's shoes.
He does this periodically. It's like he doesn't like our music or something :)

The weather has been nice and so we were able to go to the park last week.

We've been working on our quiet books at Beckie's each week. James plays with his cousins who are both girls and so it's hard to avoid pink toys :)
My parents have 6 weeks left on their mission! It's crazy to think they will soon get to see James in person!

18 months!

James is 18 months! It's fun to see how different he is now compared to a year ago. So much changes so fast! Here is a fun little video I caught of him and Marshall playing outside a few days ago.

Sewing Project #2

Back in October Bonnie, Beckie and I decided to make quiet books. I knew it would take more than a few days like most our projects take but I didn't think it would take 4 months! It's one of those projects that is way more complicated than you think. James will be the first to use it but I don't think I will ever make another one so it is for the whole family.

Here is the outside.

Page 1: match up the colors on the stop lights. There are felt circles that are velcrowed on.

Page 2: matching the colored balloons that are velcrowed on. I used a lot of velcrow in this book. Page 3: learn how to button.
Page 4: Pick the apples off the tree. Page 5: Take the clothes off the clothes line.
Page 6: Dress the Snowman. Page 7: Tie the shoe (ok so I'm not quite finished with the book. I still need to put in the shoe laces on the shoe).

Page 8: In the zipper pocket are animal finger puppets (this is the first time I've sewed a zipper in, not as bad as I thought it would be). Page 9: Learn how to tell time.

Page 10: Play a game of Tic-Tac-Toe. Page 11: Match the shapes.
Page 12: Serve up a banana split. Page 13: Place the train on track.
Page 14: Braid the horse's hair. I'm so glad to be finished. I'm glad I could finish before the baby comes!

Sewing Project #1

I have a lot of sewing projects I want to get done before this baby comes. I have 8 weeks to go so I've been using my free time to sew. Here's my first project. It's a rag baby blanket. My friend, Chelsea and I each sewed one. We got the idea from this here.

Chelsea is due in May with her 2nd boy. Her blanket is a cute animal print with blue on the back. I chose to go with a purple blanket with moons and starts. Here are the finished blankets before they were washed and also some belly shots.

Here is the finished product after it is washed.
