Taggart's Big Bike

Taggart learned how to ride a bike without training wheels a few weeks ago. He loves riding all the time now.
Sienna has no desire at all. She has good balance but needs to work on pedaling forward instead of back. It's funny to see them hit different milestones in their own time. Sienna was first to walk but now Taggart has some firsts. He also learned to pump on the swing and buckle his car seat.

Peter Pan

James had such a good time doing the play Mulan. When his school had auditions for Peter Pan he decided to audition for the Tick Tock Croc. He got the part and also Mr. Darling. The funny thing is that Mr. Darling's lines were said off stage and then he didn't have lines for the Tick Tock Croc. So he had it pretty easy.

The minis and I went to the school and watched a few of the scenes during an assembly.

He had lots of support the night of the play. Both grandparents and aunt Pat watched the play.

Women of Steel

I completed the Women of Steel triathlon! I really enjoyed the course and would definitely do it again. Ali was suppose to do it with me but had an injury so she ended up not being able to do it. Hopefully she and I can do it together next year.

It was a cold morning but the pool was extra warm so that felt nice. I swam faster than my last race so that was good.
I took my mountain bike because I was worried the roads would be wet. They ended up being dry so I should have taken my road bike but oh well. I am way more comfortable on my mountain bike.

I ran a faster 5k than my last triathlon.

Thankfully the rain held off until after the race finished.

Overall I was happy with my times. I finished 5th in my age group. 30th overall (out of 198)
It was a 12 mile bike compared to my last one which was 10 miles. I think I went faster per mile on this course...way better course than last race.

Swim- 7:22
Transition 1- 2:25
Bike- 48:44
Transition 2-2:18
Run- 23:12

Finish- 1:24

Rose's Birthday

I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. We had dinner in Midway the day before.

I was spoiled with my first Coldstone ice cream cake. Yummy!

We had a breakfast for champions with donuts and chocolate milk.
This was the day I went with Kaden to Hee Haw Farms so that was a a lot of fun.

That night we took pizza to Neptune Park. It is the coolest park.

I even put my fear of heights aside and climbed to the top with Lynnlee.

James is afraid of heights too but he always climbs to the top.

It was a fun day!

Kaden's Field Trip

I went with Kaden's class to Hee Haw Farms. It was a hot and sunny day. When James and Lynnlee went on field trips there they always had really cold and wet weather. So we didn't complain.
Kaden's favorite part was learning that cows have four stomachs.

Lynnlee's Fieldtrips

Lynnlee is so lucky. She got to go on two field trips at the end of the year. I was also lucky and got to go on both with her. The first field trip was to Discovery Gateway. It was a fun group with her friends Reese, Hannah, and Shanese.

The second field trip was to the Aquarium.

We had quite the group with Addie, Finn, and Rowan. The girl in the red is photo bombing :)

Lynnlee's favorite exhibit....

The butterfly exhibit was fun. The butterflies didn't like me but they liked Lynnlee. Every time we tried to get it on my hand it wouldn't budge.

Let's Play Music

The Minis completed their first semester of Let's Play Music. They were in the Gold Stars class. They loved going to class and learned a lot of songs. The goal of the class is to help build a foundation of music. There are also some preschool concepts mixed with music too so it makes learning fun.

They had a recital and sang Skinamarinky dinky dink, My Little Rooster and Dr. Knickerbocker.

Sienna really got into it and really shook her hips during Dr. Knickerbocker.

They earned very glittery gold star wands. It's fun to see the big kids support the minis.

Wines Park

On a warm spring day the minis, Kaden and I went to Wines Park. The big green swings are their favorite.

After we cooled off with an ice cream cone.

Super Speedy Boat

Marshall should be writing this post since he knows more about this boat. A friend in our ward took Marshall, James, Lynnlee and Kaden on a super speedy boat. They had a blast.

Salt Lake City Marathon

I ran the Salt Lake City Marathon for my second time. It was a new course and I was super excited. It started at the U of U and ran along the avenues past the cemetery where I have relatives buried. Then we went down into Memory Grove which is a beautiful ravine north of downtown Salt Lake. After it headed south and went past my grandparent's old house. Then around sugar house park and all the way to Holiday. It headed north after that and ended at the city county building.

I hurt my popliteus two weeks before the race. I was freaking out but the physical therapist reassured me I would be able to run. Thankfully I didn't have any problems with it during the race. The huge problem in my race ended up being leg cramps. All of this time I thought that I needed more electrolytes. I took electrolyte goo at mile 5 and by mile 8 my legs were so cramped up I could barely run. I prayed and prayed and was able to make it through the rest of the race. Now looking back I think the problem is too much electrolytes. I actually just need a lot more water. So we'll test that theory on the next race.

At mile 12 I knew I needed to keep a good attitude so I could finish. So I decided I would just look for the positive. That helped a lot. Marshall and the kids were at mile 17 and it was just fun to give them all high fives and enjoy having them there.

The last six miles are so hard so I dedicated those miles to each person in my family. I started with Sienna first and thought about her that whole mile. Then Taggart and so on. Marshall called me when I was at mile 23 and I told him to come run the end with me. Thanks to Betsy for watching my kids at the finish line! So by the time I got to the mile dedicated for Marshall, I actually got to run it with him and thank him and enjoy it with him. I finished in 3:26. It wasn't my fastest but I'm just happy I finished.

My friend Anna ran it too. We were together for the first 8 miles but I couldn't keep up with her after the cramping started.

The home stretch!
