The minis completed the Waterford Upstart program. This is a free program provided by the state which teaches pre-k children how to read. Not only that but it builds a foundation of many things they will learn in kindergarten all the way to third grade. They also have a math component and the minis can count to thirty and even do simple math problems.
Upstart is an amazing computer program and only requires 15-20 minutes per day for five days each week. It was hard some weeks to get it done and the minis weren't always motivated to do it. Some days it took some bribing and withholding play dates or screen time until they go it done.
I taught my other three children how to read with the book "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons." That book was great but not as fun and cool as a computer program with games, music, puzzles, and activities.
The Upstart graduation was held in June. Them minis didn't quite understand what it was. They did an assessment on the computer for the first half hour and then they came into this room to be presented as graduates. They were like a deer in headlights. When they asked them what they wanted to be when they grow up Sienna said Ariel and Taggart said a prince, insert mom face palm emoji :) Wow, we have realistic and important goals here (said in sarcastic voice).
