James XC Sophomore Season

James had a great cross country season! His time improved as the season went along. His first meet was the Premier Invite at the Cottonwood Complex on Aug 12th. We had the Lowry Family reunion the same weekend so I went and cheered him on while everyone else stayed at the reunion. He did awesome and got 17:15. He ran the JV race and took first for his JV team.

Next he competed in the Park City Twilight race on Aug 24th. He got to run varsity for his first time. His time was 17:18. It was a tough course so he did great! He came in 7th out of the 9 boys on his team running varsity.
They huddled up right before the race started.

Lehi took 2nd place.

Next was the Timpanogos Invite at Lakeside Park on Sept. 1st. He didn't get to run varsity. He ran the freshman/ sophomore race and took 2nd out of everyone! His time was 17:48. Marshall went to this race and he said it was really fun to watch. Ali and Dan were volunteering at the race and got to cheer him on too. They all said it was fun hearing James's name called over the speakers during the race.

Jaub Invite was in Nephi on September 7th. James took first out of the JV race. His time was 16:27! His team did awesome and took first as a team.

On Sept 16th he ran at Boarder Wars at Sugar House Park. Marshall went but traffic was terrible so he made it during the race. I don't think he took a picture at that race. He got to run Varsity. The groupings were different because there was a championship heat and that was all of the regular varsity. The regular JV all ran varsity and so on. James took first out of his school in his race. His time was 17:00. I think he had a cold too so it was even more impressive that he did so well. He didn't let anything get him down.

On Oct 3rd James ran varsity at Region III Championships at Art Dye Park. James came in 6th for Lehi and 31st overall. His time was 17:01. His pace was 5:41.

James was an alternate for state. Our front door was decorated by one of the team moms. I thought that was super nice since he was an alternate and still included.

The cross country banquet was on a week night at the school. We thought James was getting a Varsity Letter because he ran Region Championship with varsity, plus a few other races with varsity. The coach didn't give him an award at the banquet. We checked with him after and he said James really did get a varsity letter. He just forgot and it was an oversight. So we are pretty happy for James to accomplish getting a varsity letter as a sophomore!
