In past years we have gone back and forth between painting the pumpkins and carving them. Painting is more kid friendly but messy and still requires a lot of supervision and supplies. Carving is less kid friendly but has a fun end product. We have a pretty good system with the tools so it makes it go by pretty quickly. So carving won over this year. It was too cold to do it outside and it's too messy for inside. The garage was perfect and Marshall set up a table, extra lights and music. We had quite the party. The kids drew the faces on the pumpkins and then Marshall took over from there. He cut the tops off with a saw. He gutted them with the pumpkin gutter attached to his drill. The kids played catch, tennis, rode around and danced when Marshall took over.
The minis didn't know what to think. They had fun walking around and dancing.
After each pumpkin was done I put a candle in it and placed it on the porch. Then took pictures.
Marshall is the best! He did most of the work so he definitely deserved a picture with the last pumpkin which is the only one we grew ourselves. I'm so glad he is willing to put in all the work to make it fun for my kids. They were all so excited getting pictures with their pumpkins.
