James's Mission Call Openin

James waited two weeks for his mission call. It was the longest two weeks. The emotions of waiting are really crazy. It was an emotional rollercoaster worrying about where he would be called. Since he took Spanish for 4 years I really wanted him to receive a Spanish speaking assignment. Then, because he went to Paraguay for HXP, I really wanted him to go to Paraguay or anywhere in South America would be sufficient. The stake president could see from his view, the status of the mission call. We found this out when we went to a wedding reception and the stake president was there with his wife. His wife told me I could text her any time and she would look up the status to see if it was assigned. So we took advantage of that and text her every other day.

I was at clinical when James received the text that his call was ready. It was a busy and exciting rest of the day. Lynnlee helped make scotcheroos. I made peanut butter bars when I got home and also smore bars. Kade had a game so I went and watched when I finished clinical. I'm pretty sure Lynnlee had a game too. James told us he wanted to open his call privately before hand and we supported that. He had soccer practice after school and then team dinner. After that he drove to the Saratoga Springs Temple and opened it. He seemed pretty happy when I talked to him after so that made me feel better. Two of James's friends also received their mission calls that same day so it was decided that they would each open them spread out. Jace opened his first, then another friend and then James opened his last around 9:00, I think. It was late but it is what worked with everything going on.

We had no idea how many people would come to his opening. It was amazing! So much love and support.

I did a Facebook live. I was going to do an Instagram live but apparently you have to have over a thousand followers so that's lame. Facebook worked though. When he read where he was going I cried happy tears. Then I just froze. It wasn't until friends went to congratulate him that his friend Ben said, you have to hug your mom first. Then I jumped up and congratulated him and gave him a big hug.
He was called to Paraguay, Ascuncion. He starts home MTC on Sept 6th. He will fly to the MTC in Peru on September 24th and the go to Paraguay on Oct 20th. We couldn't be more excited!

Erin let us borrow this map to make guesses. It was perfect!
