Baptisms for the Dead: Kade's First Time and James's First Time Baptizing

It was an exciting morning! We went to the Draper Temple to do baptisms. James got to baptize Lynnlee and Kade. Marshall helped with confirmations. James has a soft cast so on Monday morning I ordered a cast cover. Thankfully Kasey has had experience with cast covers so he told me the best one to get. It came the next day and then our appointment was on Wednesday. I'm so glad his broken hand didn't keep this from happening.

Priesthood Ordinations

Sunday was a big and exciting day! With a new year came new classes for all of the kids. James moved to the priest quorum, Lynnlee to the middle young women's class, Kade moved to the deacons quorum, and Taggart and Sienna moved to the second oldest class in primary.

The priesthood ordinations took place after church. Marshall ordained James and James ordained Kade. It was really cool and really special. I got all choked up. I was so happy and so emotionally touched that my face was like smile....choked up....smile.....choked up. Haha!

Our parents came to the ordinations. Then they came over for dinner after. It was a very sweet day!

Kade's Date Night and Boxers Break

Marshall and Tag went to Monster Jam. Sienna went with London for the night. Lynnlee was with friends. James went to fight night with friends. That left Kade and me. He had a gift card for the gas station so we went and he got treats for our night. We got home and started watching the most recent Transformers. It was one he had been wanting to watch.

We got about a half hour into it when I got a call from the parents who were hosting fight night. They own a PMA gym and James and his friends were there fighting. They told me they thought James dislocated his pinky finger knuckle. They turned on facetime so I could see it. I really don't know much about dislocations, breaks, sprains, etc. James wanted to stay and watch his friends so I told them I would pick him up in about an hour. Then I googled it. I read that immediate treatment was necessary in the event of a dislocation so it can be put back into place easier. So I had to cut my date night short with Kade. I felt so bad. He didn't want to go to Instacare so he was home by himself.

I took James to the only Instacare open at 8:40 on a Saturday night. We had to wait so long!
Eventually we saw the doctor. He said there is a very common break when boxing called the boxer's break. The x-ray confirmed that. James got a soft cast and they told us to meet with a sport medicine doctor to get a hard cast in a week.
We left there around 11:00 to head home. A storm had come in and there was snow sticking to the ground The drive home was long and slow. I was grateful we made it home safely.

Monster Jam

Monster Jam came to town. Tag and Marshall got tickets for Christmas. They went out to eat at Mo Bettahs before the show. Then they went to Monster Jam at the Delta Center. They said a lot of the trucks broke down and it wasn't quite as good as previous years. They still had fun though and were glad they could go.

The Hive

We got the Get Out pass this year. A place called The Hive is on it. So we went and checked it out over the break. It was so fun and had such a good variety of things to do: trampolines, slack line, basketball, soccer, dodge ball, inflatables, and a zipline.

James's friend Ryan came with us. His parents were out of town and so he stayed with us for a few days.

Tommy Boy Moment: Hood Flying Up

James and I had quite a frightening moment. We were driving to UVU to return some library books. We had just gotten on the freeway. James asked me if he should get over or if we should take that lane to Orem. Traffic was moving fast so I told him we could just stay in that lane, thankfully! Right after that the hood flew up and blocked our view. Thankfully there was a little gap down low where we could see. We both sank down. We both stayed very calm. I calmly told him to slow down and pull over to the shoulder. He followed and did a perfect job. Once we were stopped, I got out and shut the hood. It was tricky getting back on the freeway because there so many cars and not very many gaps. James did great though. He sped up on the shoulder and merged back in.

We were both shaky and in shock afterwards but we were safe. I'm amazed at how calm we both felt during the whole thing.

I took this after to how it obstructed our view but at the bottom you can see.

New Years Eve

New Years Eve was on a Sunday. We went to church. That afternoon we went to Heber for dinner and games. It was a fun New Years eve. Normally we have family come to town for Christmas but they have to leave to go back home before New Years. Katie's family stayed through New Years so it was fun having them in town still!

We toasted in the New Year around 9:00 and then we headed home. At home we stayed up playing games until midnight. Then we went to bed. My kids love staying up so they were all very happy. We had fun playing games too.
