Cornbellys '14

We had our annual outing to Cornbellys with my family. In past years we haven't had enough time to do everything and so this year we went in the early afternoon so we would have plenty of time to do everything before it got too dark and cold. It worked out well because there was lots of time to do everything they wanted and the weather was really warm. It felt more like summer instead of fall.

Drew, Kaden and Lynnlee watching a show.

They played in here for about a half hour. They were covered in corn dust by the end.
They stuffed their shirts and when we got home that night I kept finding pieces of corn all over my house.

Duck races...

Kaden loved it and was a handful on top of taking care of the minis. It was fun but crazy trying to keep track of him.

Smiley Minis

Here is your weekly picture of the minis. They are smiley babies when they are happy. Last night we were with my sister-in-law Andrea and Taggart couldn't stop smiling at her. It was the cutest thing. He was totally smitten.

Mummified

Mummy dogs are super easy to make and fun for kids. I saw the idea on Pinterest so I made them for my kids on Saturday. Next year I will let them make their own because they are so simple. I used canned crescent rolls but you could use any kind of dough. Then cut them into strips and wrap them around.

Think About It

I saw this quote today and I loved it so I had to snap a picture of it.

Ghosts and Pumpkins

My sister Ali comes every week to help me out. She is always doing fun paper crafts with Lynnlee. This week she made 5 little pumpkins and a gate so Lynnle could do a puppet show.

Lynnlee is holding up her favorite pumpkins. Kaden is holding up a pumpkin version of himself.

I attempted craft time with Lynnlee the week before. Thanks to Pinterest we got the idea to make ghosts and pumpkins out of paper plates.

Grocery Store

Do you ever have grocery store amnesia? You know, when you have a list in your mind of things you need and then the second you step inside the store you have forgotten everything. Luckily today I had made a list but then on the way driving to the store I thought of a few more things. I didn't write them down since I was driving and I also thought I would remember. Nope. The second I walked in I immediately forgot. Even after walking through the store I still couldn't remember. It has to be a real condition. It happens to me all the time.

So this is how we do the grocer store when we really need something. Most days I have help so I go to the store by myself. On the days I don't its nice to know it is possible to get out with 3 kids under the age of 2.

The Anniversary

We've been married 9 years and have 5 children. How did this happen? Years ago if you told me I would have 5 children before I turn 30 I would have laughed really hard. Now we are in the middle of all this craziness and I still laugh about it, and cry and all of the emotions in between. It's all so hard but rewarding too. I love taking care of them and yet I'm overwhelmed by all of their needs. I love spending time with them but I worry if they each get enough one on one time with me. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of one or two kids. Then I think of all of the fun I have with my siblings now and I'm so excited for my kids to have the same friendships with each other.

We had a fun anniversary on Monday and celebrated by going golfing. I love to golf and have been to the driving range once since being married but have not been golfing for more than 10 years. It sounds funny to love doing something so much and not do it for such a long time. That is part of the sacrifice of being a mom. One day I will get back to playing tennis, golf, racquetball, soccer and when I do I will have 6 wonderful people to do it with. I'm excited for all of the adventures to come. As my kids get older it will be fun to share all of my hobbies with them.

Happy Anniversary to my Lovest and I'm excited for all of the years to come!

Fall Break '14

I was worried my kids wouldn't think our fall break plans were that fun but I forgot how easy to please they are. Thursday we went to Thanksgiving Point Museum of Curiosity. In May we got a pass and used it a lot while I was pregnant but we haven't gone since. They had fun playing in all the different areas.

The minis were happy in the stroller.

Then we drove to Gardner Village for the witch scavenger hunt. It was really crowded there so Marshall stayed in the car with the minis and Kaden who were all asleep. James, Lynnlee and I walked around and found all the witches. Our favorite was the one riding a bike through the air.

Then it was off to Scheels so Marshall could get some gear for the hunt.

I took James and Lynnlee on the Ferris Wheel while Marshall shopped with Kaden and the minis.

Friday Marshall went hunting for the weekend and my kids and I headed to Heber. We played at the park.

The minis took naps.

We made caramel apples. They had fun with cousins and aunts.

Sunday we were home and took it easy after church.

Sunday night we made Halloween shaped sugar cookies and frosted them.

Minis' Bath Time

These two love bath time. They never cry and seem to be enjoying it. The tears come when they have to get out and they cry even after I'm done drying them off and they are dressed. It's like they have to keep crying to let me know they are made I got them out.

Can you guess who is who?

They look a lot a like but I'm glad I can tell them apart. It would be hard having identical twins and trying to keep them straight.

Tortle

Taggart favored the left side of his head for about the first 2 months until I noticed that side becoming flat. I changed him around in his crib and wherever he is playing I make sure he is positioned so he should look to the right. We also bought this fun beanie called a Tortle that helps with flat heads. He hates it though and doesn't nap well when he is wearing it. He is always wiggling it off. Hopefully this will prevent him from needing a helmet.

The Lagoon

We have been planning to go to The Lagoon (as James and Lynnlee like to call it) for Frightmares for a long time. We were all getting excited to go as it got closer. Then the week of Lynnlee and Kaden both came down with croup. This is the 2nd time in a month for Lynnlee. They were doing better by Saturday and there wasn't another day we could reschedule to so we decided to go anyways. Lynnlee and Kaden still had fun but you could tell they were a little down on energy (not a bad thing for Kaden). Aunt Betsy came too. My mom offered to watch the minis at my house which made it so nice to be able to give James, Lynnlee, and Kaden all of the attention.

Marshall and James were ride buddies and went on all the "big kid" rides while Betsy and I took Lynnlee and Kaden on kiddie rides. Then we switched so Betsy and I could go on some roller coasters.

These two were so cute together.

This girl got in the car with James and it looked like an awkward first date.

The fun thing about Frightmares is the different places to trick or treat. Plus they have witches handing out candy around Kiddie Land.

James is afraid of heights but he really surprised me. He went on all the big kid rides that he was tall enough for, including Wicked, Colossus, Wild Mouse, Screamer, and The Spider. Marshall filmed him with the GoPro and it is hilarious to watch his face on the video!
