San Juan, Puerto Rico: Second Time

We got off the ship Sunday morning. It didn't take as long as we thought to get off and rent our car. We had about two hours before church started. We decided to drive around the mountains or hills whichever you call them in Puerto Rico. There were very steep roads and I was so glad Marshall was driving. I don't know how the cars there make it up and down those hills.

We saw a lot of unique house colors and styles.

Behold, bananas in their natural habitat :)

We went to church and confirmed our suspicion that it was stake conference the week before.
Some people go on vacation and take a vacation from church, their standards, or both. I am so grateful for the example my parents set for me. We always went to church while on vacation and we kept our standards and the commandments. I used to not like going to church while on vacation growing up because you don't know anyone and sometimes it can be uncomfortable. Now I have come to really enjoy it. It was testimony meeting at the ward in San Juan and the testimonies were so touching.

After church we got checked in at our Airbnb. It was a nice house in Loiza. It was right on Rio Grande de Loiza which is basically an inlet. Our host had a kayak that we got to take out and explore the inlet. It was near the end of the airport runway so we got to see the jets take off from a really close distance. So cool to see. The noise of the jets did get a little old late that night and early in the morning.

Monday we explored old town San Juan before our afternoon flight. We didn't have enough time to get out and walk around so all of the pictures are the high quality car drive by ones ;)
