Marshall and I went to Jamaica for our anniversary in October and had an amazing time! I loved everything about it. We purchased a discounted trip to go back. Since kids stay free there I knew I wanted to take them when we went back. We had a year to use the voucher and when we looked at the year we knew the best time to go was this spring. We invited any of Marshall's family to go with and Miranda's and Olivia's family decided to go.
We flew out the night of my birthday (see birthday post). We had an hour layover in Boston. There was a fun kids area that they tried out for a bit.
I wanted a picture with a Boston sign. The last time I was in Boston was sixteen years ago. I flew into and out of Boston to work at Camp Wicosuta in Hebron, New Hampshire. We went to Boston during breaks at camp to tour the city. Marshall proposed to me at the Boston Temple. I have good memories there. Having a layover there made me want to go back and actually stay and show my kids around.
We landed in Montego Bay, Jamaica in the morning. Going through immigration and customs went well. Kaden was wearing a Messi jersey and it was fun to watch all of the reactions he got from Jamaican workers in the airport. He loved all of the attention! Here's the jersey:
We took a bus to the resort-Moon Palace- in Ocho Rios. It was an hour and a half drive. That allowed for more sleep which really helped each of the kids to be more rested. The bus had reclining seat, arm rests, and was very comfortable. By the time we got to the resort they were energized and ready to play. Views from the bus:
Moon Palace is all inclusive resort. It's like being on a cruise ship because all of the food and activities are included, open and available. A true vacation for moms! Kids can eat what they want, when they want and moms can relax. We got there around lunch time and while the adults checked in all of the kids went to the cafe and got pizza. View from our room:
The building position allows for a great view of the ocean and city. Then we all went to the beach and snorkeled. Then played in the pools. The unicorn tube was just there for anyone to play with and it got a lot of use from my kids while we were there.
Rich and Olivia got there in time for dinner. We went to Pier 8. It is an outdoor restaurant there with delicious seafood and steak. This was the adult table and then all of the kids sat at a table. We kept the minis with us to make sure they were behaving and using good manners. We had lots of pep talks before the trip about manners, etiquette, etc. They all behaved very well and it was a nice dinner.
The Boulangerie was always open and had ice cream, tarts, cake, cookies, chocolates, and crepes. We went there almost every night to feed our sweet tooth.
Kade is a very, very picky eater so he had a hard time finding things he liked and was a little grumpy about it.
Jamaica is only one hour ahead so that helped to be close to what we are used to.
