Day 3 was so exciting because we got to swim with dolphins and go to the luminous lagoon. Dolphin Cove is at the resort so we just walked out on the pier when it was time. You can see the dolphins from some of the restaurants so that is also fun to see them jumping out of the water.
Everyone looking out while we were waiting to start.
View of the resort from Dolphin Cove. Our rooms were in the tallest building.
It was really fun watching my children enjoy touching, interacting, and swimming with the dolphins.
It was seriously so fun and just as good as when Marshall and I went in October. Definitely lived a dream.
It gets better though. That night we took a bus to Luminous Lagoon. It was about forty-five minutes from our hotel. Once there we waited until it was completely dark. Then we went on a boat to the middle of the lagoon. We all got to swim in the bio luminescent water. There are only four places in the world that have microorganisms in the water called dinoflagellates. When they are touched they light up. So the more you swim and move the water, the more it glows. It was like something out of a sci-fi movie. Getting a picture of us swimming all at the same time and making the water glow was hard to do. So we don't have pictures of it. It was fun trying different things. When we lifted our arms out of the water you could see the glowing water drip off. Blowing bubbles in the water made glowing bubbles. The tour guide said when it rains the whole lagoon lights up.
We took some pictures, Maya sang karaoke, and we drank fruit punch while we waited for it to get dark.
This was the one picture we have of the glowing water. The photographer tried and tried but I think the kids just couldn't move enough to make it glow enough to see on camera. It became comical as we gave up and had to convince the photographer to also give up. We had a good laugh and enjoyed ourselves a lot more after that.
That night we got back to the hotel around 9:00. We all needed dinner but the kids were so tired. They all ordered room service and the adults went to La Gondola restaurant for some Italian food. We had some good laughs over the restaurant's specialty drink that was virgin but tasted terrible and also the small food portions. It was yummy and we enjoyed the kid free night.
