Thursday we woke up at 5:30! We wanted to beat the heat. It took us awhile to eat, get ready and such. By the time we to the Park gate, rode the shuttle up the canyon and got to the trail head it was about 7:00am.
It was a beautiful morning. A little chilly but I had to keep reminding myself that was better than the heat. The first part of the hike was easy, no incline. Then we started to climb and the switchbacks were a lot. We took a bunch of breaks to catch our breath.
Scout's Lookout was the part of the trail where the girls stayed and the boys kept going to the top of Angel's Landing. It took about an hour for them to get to the landing and back to us. We explored around, took pictures, and were entertained by the squirrels.
Lynnlee is amazing! She pushed hard as she hiked despite having lower oxygen than the rest of us. You would never know she has a heart defect.
We all took a dozen pictures of Walter's Wiggles from the trail but it didn't looks as cool, it's a part of the trail with a lot of tight switchbacks. This is not a picture we took because we could not get this angle from where we were but I had to post it so you can see how cool the switchbacks look.
That afternoon we went swimming in Pine Creek river. It is off Zion Park Blvd. There were some deep spots to jump in and lots of big rocks to climb and play on.
