One Week Old

Monday

It's Monday and these two munchkins are one week old. A lot has happened in one week. They have made a lot of progress and continue to get closer to coming home but we really have no idea when that will be. They have to go 48 hours eating on their own without getting any food through their feeding tube. They can usually eat a couple of meals in a row on their own and then after 3 or 4 in a row they are too sleepy for the next feeding and so it goes in the tube. So the timing is up to them. Who knows how long it will take until they get the strength up to just do it. The night they were born the nurse practitioner told us she thought they would be in the NICU for one week. Then a few days later another nurse told us they would be in until their due date. Today the nurse told me she thought it would be the end of next week. It would be nice to have a crystal ball because otherwise we just take it one day at a time and hope its sooner than later.

Today they passed their hearing screens. The pictures aren't the best and are really dark so I tried to lighten them.

I love Sienna's onesie today and she has a cute little matching bow. This was taken after she breastfed but before she topped off with the bottle. She was not happy about waiting for the bottle to warm.
At this point there isn't a lot to update on so there won't be updates everyday. I will just post some pictures here and there.
