Have you every heard of a golden birthday? I remember learning what it was when I was around ten years old. Your golden birthday is the year when you are turning the same age as the day of the month you were born on. Mine was when I turned seven. Kaden is the first child in our family to have a golden birthday. He turned 8 and he was born on July 8th. So I googled golden birthday ideas but there really aren't too many ideas which is fine. I didn't want to go all crazy but I did want to have something to set it apart. I found golden tissue ball decorations from Dollar Tree as well as a gold table cloth and party hat. Then I found gold streamers to put on the door to his room. That was perfect because it was enough to make it different but not too much work either. I have to have a tradition I can do four more times.
Kaden loves the outdoors and fishing. He would go fishing all day everyday if he could. He wanted to go fishing on his birthday so Marshall took him early that morning. Unfortunately they didn't catch anything but Kaden didn't let it ruin his day.
During the quarantine Lynnlee made a pinata. We didn't know when we would use it since we weren't having any friend parties. We decided to use it for our family that night. We learned three things that night:
1. Amazon boxes are too strong and don't make good pinatas.
2. A bag of candy consisting mostly of suckers is a bad choice to put in a pinata. The hard candy breaks into tiny pieces when the box it is in is hit with a baseball bat.
3. Marshall can't be trusted with a baseball bat when the kids are in control of the pinata. Marshall 1 Swing Set 0.
Let me explain. Marshall raised and lowered the pinata while the kids were trying to hit it. It is funny teasing them. Well, since the box wasn't breaking Marshall wanted to take a swing. Sienna was in control of the rope and raised it right when he swung really hard. He missed the box and swung right into the swing set. 😮 It was a situation where you could only laugh consider he got a taste of exactly what he was doing. The swing set has a nice dent in it now to remind us of the funny moment.
The suckers were mostly all broken and there was tiny hard candy pieces raining down once the box finally opened. 😝
