In December we started talking about going to Texas to visit Charlie's family. We both felt uneasy about it even though we REALLY wanted to go. By February we were both feeling better about it and decided to book the flights. Then at the beginning of March we bought tickets to Dude Perfect Tour in San Antonio. We planned out the itinerary of what we wanted to do when we were there. Then the next week everything shut down and we all went into quarantine. We didn't know if that trip would actually happen.
As June neared we felt fine about traveling and going still. Unfortunately Dude Perfect got postponed until 2021 and Six Flags was closed. So we came up with a new schedule of things to see with Angeline's help.
We flew there on a Wednesday afternoon and got there late that night. The kids were all great travelers. A few weeks before the trip they each picked out a quarter of fabric to make two masks each. They didn't love wearing a mask but they did it.
James got everyone playing his favorite card game while waiting to board the plane. This was definitely the easiest time flying with five kids. They were very well behaved and we got compliments from the flight attendants. We didn't pay the extra to pick our seats but it worked out that we were all by each other.
Ali's family went as well and so Thursday was the first morning all together at Charlie's house.
We loved their house! They live in the country. It is so dreamy!.....high tech house, hot tub, pool, trampoline, zip line, fire pit, 4 wheeling course :), tractor racing, adventure woods, and on a quiet country road great for running. They even have lights strung in the back that set the perfect scene for a summer night.
Reunited and it feels so good!
Lynnlee and Lydia are pretty much glued at the hip when they are together. They are seriously the cutest cousin buddies.
The adults went out on a date Thursday. We got take out at Lupe's and ate at a park near by. The fajitas and queso were so yummy! It was fun telling stories of growing up and pointing out similar Jarvis quality traits that Ali, Charlie and I share. We laughed a lot!
Growing up Charlie, Ali and I were called the "three little kids." So I love this picture with the "three little kids" and our better half's. Then we went downtown Austin and rented electric scooters. We cruised around the city. It reminded me of when Marshall and I rented bikes in Japan and cruised around to see the sites.
I was pretty timid at first on the scooter but by the end I was way more comfortable and going as fast as I could get it to go.
The city was beautiful and the river was so pretty. This looked like a really fun place to kayak and paddle board.
We went to this donut place, Gourdough's, while riding around and it was amazing. Hands down the best donuts I have ever eaten. They are fried fresh on the spot.
This was a common scene during the down time. They all played Minecraft together and so I was ok with it since they weren't isolated and also it wasn't Fortnite. I am REALLY AGAINST Fortnite.
That night we went to the Liberty Hill Rodeo. My kids haven't been to a rodeo in a few years. Also there was Mutton Busting and we decided to sign up the youngest boys. It was very entertaining! Kaden was in first place for a little bit and then ended up taking 5th or 6th.
Matchy cousins...
They each wore a vest and helmet for protection. I like Taggart's face. He's ready to take on the sheep. There was an activity where any kid under the age of twelve could try and get a red ribbon off the tail of a cow. The winner won a bike. My kids had fun running around and chasing the cows but they did not catch the ribbon.
